PLACENTIA, APRIL 28—Special
Activity continues unabated in the Placentia oil fields and the region east of town begins to show a forest of derricks, with more going up.
The Midway Petroleum has boilers in for Yarnell No. 1, northeast of Bradford 1, and has hauled in the boilers for Yarnell 2, east of Bradford 2.
The Union has material on the ground for Newell 1, and the Amalgamated is rigging up Potter 1, east of Newell.

Capt. F. H. Thibodo writes that he is still uncertain as to how long he will remain in service. He will not be released before July and perhaps not, that soon. Most of his time is spent in accompanying detachments of wounded men from New York to other cities. He has visited St. Louis and Chicago fully 30 times in the last few months, and is getting so they seem only a step from New York. He has been to San Francisco two or three times and last month was in Fort Worth, Texas. The miles he has traveled are nearing six figures and will go over that mark before he leaves the army. Dr. Mrs. Thibodo are living at Montclair Heights, N. J., when not on the rooftop.
Sergt. Walter Schumacher has been discharged from the aviation service has had a vacation, which he spends with an uncle at Wasco, and is the job again at Schumacher's garage.
Samuel Kraemer has ordered material and contracted for the building of six houses in Kraemer addition. These houses will be modern and attract containing five rooms each, and garage will be built for each of Five will face on Alta-st and one Bradford-ave. These houses will not only relieve a little of the demand for accommodations but add largely to the appearance of the eastern part of town.
As Charles Peralta was sailing down Valencia-ave Thursday morning on a bicycle he met a Ford driver by Ralph Pantuso as it came off the driveway at the McFadden ranch. He ran headlong into their diator, bent the radiator cap over and went on thru the window, receiving a varied assortment of cuts on the face and head. McFadden took him to a doctor who drest his injuries, several stitches ing required to close the worst cut None of his injuries are that to really serious.
Mrs. Geo. McFadden of Los Angeles spent afew days last week with Mr. R. A. Flick.
Ed Lucy is a civilian once more. He has not made any definite plan for the future but will probably continue the work he followed in a service, wireless telegraphy. Ed listed in the navy but spent most his at Harvard University where was an instructor in wireless, with the rank of Chief Electrician.

MISS WINEGAR HAS 6 O'CLOCK DINNER
The members of the younger social set have been enjoying a number of delightful affairs the past week, and one which will be remembered by them for some time to come was the dinner dance given on Friday evening by Miss Mae Winegar, manager of the Woolworth store, as a courtesy to the young ladies employed in the store.
The six course dinner was served at her home, the decorations being entirely of the beauty of the center of ture May-pod dolls, whifflers and feathers attractiveness.

FRIENDS SEND GAMES TO AVIATOR IN JAIL
Friends of Lieut. H. B. Gordon, naval aviator, who is spending ten days in the Orange-co. jail for speeding, are not allowing him to forget them. Packages have been coming to the lieutenant. One of them contained a card board puzzle, of the kind that make a picture when all the pieces are fitted. The friends feel certain that these games will occupy the lieutenant's mind so that ten days won't hang heavy on his hands.
The lieutenant takes his confinement philosophically of course. He refuses to talk for publication. He doesn't propose to say anything that might come back at him through the navy department. His ten days will be up Tuesday.
