Koch is having a $3500 eight-room two-story house built at his ranch, the foundation of which is already laid and frame-work started. It is to be in Swiss-Chalet style and of the best material procurable thruout its entirety. U. S. Amack is the contractor, Couliffe Bros. doing the cement work, lumber to be furnished by Harmon Lumber Co. of Los Angeles and the roof to be placed by the Los Angeles Paper & Roofing Co. Mr. Koch has sold the old house to Mr. Danker who will move it to Richfield where, after remodeling, he will rent it. Mr. and Mrs. E. Yorba, accompanied by their four children and Victor Velasco, motored to Orange County Park on Sunday, seeing several narrowly averted "casualties" of headless motorists and at Olive coming upon an overturned machine, whose occupants they were told, had had a spill and an involuntary bath, when the person driving lost control of the machine. Miss Marguerite Boisseranc left on Monday for Riverside, where she is visiting with the O. Bresson family. Mrs. J. Sanchez and her two sons, Joe and Willie attended Palm Sunday services at St. Boniface's church in Anaheim. Mr. and Mrs. Y. Agundez doing the same by going to San Juan Capistrano Mission, motoring to the beach afterwards, ere they wended their way back. Mr. E. Yorba was elected trustee by Adkins brought the Anaheim company $400 a week in business. Adkins has been with the Model company three weeks, and the Anaheim company is asking for $750 damages alleged to have already been done to the company. An order of court permanently restraining Adkins from soliciting for business among any of those people who were his customers while he was employed by the Anaheim Laundry Co. is sought. $5,000 FOR STUDY OF RIVER COURSE A bill appropriating $5,000 for making a study of the flow, sources and channels of the Santa Ana river has been passed by the assembly at Sacramento, and has gone to the senate for consideration. Under the bill, which was presented by Assemblyman Knight of Redlands, the investigation is to be made in co-operation with federal agencies that have been at work for some time. Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, acting jointly, have made appropriations for carrying on the work of the U. S. Geological Survey in making rainfall and flow measurements at various points along the river. The original fund for this work came from the State Conservation Commission which turned money over to federal agencies for just that kind of work, and the Santa Ana river work got its share of the benefit. The principal purpose in gathering accurate data concerning the river is that it may be ready at hand in the fight that is being led by the three counties, with Francis Cuttle of Riverside as chairman of the organization, to secure federal action under the Newlands Waterways Bill to name Santa Ana as one of the rivers. Monday for Riverside, where she is visiting with the O. Mr. E. Yorba was elected trustee at the recent school election in lieu of Mr. P. Yorba who wished to retire this year. A. Manussnest of Los Angeles, is visiting his sister-in-law, Miss Hermina Bayha at the Bayha ranch. Mr. C. Velasques, who has been working at Prado lately, visited with the Coronado family on Sunday. Rev. J. Galvin of St. Mary's church Fullerton was a Yorba visitor the first part of the week. The Grammar grades of Yorba are enjoying their pre-Easter vacation, the high school pupils having resumed their studies on Monday. JUNE ORANGE DROP The results of an extended investigation of the causes of June Drop of Oranges, though delayed for more than a year by war emergencies, has just been published by the University of California Press. The book, though highly technical in character, will likely be of interest to orange growers for the reason that it presents in full the scientific data upon which was based the previously issued popular bulletin published by the Experiment Station. The book is well illustrated with photographs and charts in addition to a number of half-tone engravings. The authors conclude that the abnormal shedding is due to two causes: a fungus which gains access through the navel end of the young fruits; and the harsh climatic conditions of the interior valleys against which the Navel orange tree is not sufficiently able to protect itself. It is claimed that where irrigation water is abundant, the shedding may be much reduced by the judicious use of early summer cover crops. The book is published by the University of California Press at Berkeley, and is sold at cost of printing. ANAHEIM LAUNDRY SEEKS INJUNCTION The intrusion of the Model Laundry Co. of Santa Ana into territory hitherto covered by the Anaheim Laundry Co. is resented most decidedly by the Anaheim company, which has turned money over to federal agencies for just that kind of work, and the Santa Ana river work got its share of the benefit. The principal purpose in gathering accurate data concerning the river is that it may be ready at hand in the fight that is being led by the three counties, with Francis Cuttle of Riverside as chairman of the organization, to secure federal action under the Newlands Waterways Bill to name Santa Ana as one of the rivers to be mapped out and cared for as a federal conservation project. PAUL NICOLAS HOME Paul Nicolas arrived home Monday afternoon direct from France, having received his discharge on the other side. This was done by his agreeing to pay his own way and expenses home. When he got a telegram announcing the serious illness of his brother, Pierre Nicolas, he hurried to get away and reach home in the shortest possible time, and the only way he could accomplish that object was to practically buy his discharge. He did not learn of his brother's death until he reached this side of the Atlantic, about the 5th of April. Mr. Nicolas received a severe wound in the side and has been in the hospital several months, and was still under treatment when he left France. His wound is yet far from healed. FULLERTON HOTEL C. C. Chapman and E. K. Benchley have purchased 150 feet fronting on Spadra road, at the southeast corner of Whiting ave, Fullerton, from the Stern Realty Co. This property, with 75 feet adjoining to the south, the property of Dr. Wickett, Chapman's son-in-law, makes 225 feet frontage on Spadra, which, it is understood, will be the site for a handsome hotel. CADMANS DRUG STORE Walter Cadman, who has been conducting business under the name of the Mullinix Drug Store, is having gold letters placed on the doors announcing it to be Cadman's Drug Store. ANAHEIM LAUNDRY SEEKS INJUNCTION The intrusion of the Model Laundry Co. of Santa Ana into territory hitherto covered by the Anaheim Laundry Co. is resented most decidedly by the Anaheim company, which has brought an injunction action against the Model Laundry and against J. L. Adkins, formerly a driver for the Anaheim company. The complaint, filed by Los Angeles attorney, alleges that Adkins is using his knowledge of the Anaheim company's business and his acquaintance ship made while an employee of that company to secure business for his new employer, the Model Laundry Co. The Anaheim firm in its complaint alleges that a route formerly covered USDEPOT ER STREET—ANAHEIM Angeles, and Orange and Santa Ana Bullo, Buena Park, Norwalk, Santa Fe Springs.
