ENTERTAIN YOUNG FOLKS FOR SISTER WEDNESDAY EVE. BUENA PARK, Mar. 31.—Special —Miss Ethel Thrasher entertained a few young people Wednesday evening at the Teacherage in honor of her sister, Miss Hazel. A delightful evening was spent with games and jokes and at the close of the evening dainty refreshments were served by the hostess. F. V. Burgle is the station agent at Northam. Born—To Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Harwell, March 25th, a baby boy. C. E. Ritten made a business trip to Anaheim Thursday in the interests of a gas line down East Orange-thorpe. Mr. Skytte made a business trip to Los Angeles Saturday. E. E. Thurman and son, Edward, spent the week-end with relatives in Banning. J. B. Robison was elected as school trustee Friday. Miss Emma Robinson was home over the week-end. Jack Golden has moved into the big new White Store, which gives him more room for his business. Mr. A. P. Fay of the Buena Park bank was seen riding into town Saturday morning in a silent auto. W. O. Burrows is erecting a new cottage on his ranch south of the park, where fire had destroyed the old home several months ago. Mr. and Mrs. James Watson motored to Los Angeles Saturday, their son Bert, returned with them for over Sunday. Fred Bastady made a business trip to Los Angeles Saturday. O. H. Woodfill from the east is the guest of C. L. Spakers. SERMON LECTURE Elder T. E. Stanley was hostess to the Auld Lang Syne Club Thursday. The house was beautifully decorated with smilax, marguerites and poppies. A beautiful appointed luncheon was served at one o'clock which was followed by a very interesting business meeting, and it was decided to meet with Miss Percy Head in Santa Ana, 520 E. Sixth-st, May 22. A letter of sympathy was sent to Mrs. Mabel Lowell, who is in the Angelus hospital in Los Angeles. Those present were: Mesdames H. V. Newsome, W. J. Newsome, J. C. Mitchell, L. E. Harrison, E. Chaffee, R. Oldfield and W. B. Harper. The out-of-town guests were: Mesdames Crawford, Vertrees and Fitch of Burbank; Mrs. W. C. Newsome, Rivera. Miss Pearl Head and Mrs. H. Wassum, of Santa Ana, Mrs. A. Johnson, Irvine; Mrs. Ralph Chaffee, of Gleason, Arizona and Miss Bertha Robinson. Mr. Earl Crane returned from the hospital Wednesday. A., Mrs. Goodell, will be present and give an address. She will also have charge of the round table. Everybody welcome. The T. A. C. met with Mrs. R. B. Richey last week in an all day session. The members profitably employing their time in making garments for the orphan children of Belgium. At noon a delicious luncheon was served by the hostess, who was assisted by Mrs. W. H. Newsome. The local Farm Center held an especially interesting meeting at the school auditorium Monday evening. A large number being in attendance. H. A. Lack, W. O. Broady, J. M. Woodworth and John Dickman attended the Associated Chamber of Commerce banquet at Santa Ana last Wednesday evening. Remember the date for the next meeting of the local Chamber of Commerce is Monday, April 7th. This is an important meeting and all members should make it a point to be present. The directors are especially urged to attend. A miscellaneous shower was given Mr. and Mrs. George Moon Thursday evening at the home of Miss Mildred Spain. A group of her friends were present and passed the evening pleasantly with games and music. Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Mrs. Alice Young and daughter, Thelma of San Diego, are visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. Niles. Mrs. Delia Chaffee of Long Beach, visited at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Chaffee and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Chaffee, Monday and Tuesday. Virgil Brown, who has been in the military service overseas, has received his honorable discharge and returned home Wednesday. Mr. Powel, head of the California Fruit Growers' Association will give an address at Fullerton Monday evening, March 31st, on horticulture and co-operative marketing. J. O. Arkley has made arrangements to furnish transportation to the ranchers in this locality desiring to attend.
