FULLERTON GROUP WILL DRILL WELL IN KRAEMER FIELD YORBA LINDA, Mar. 24. — Special—Developments are still going on apace in the Yorba Linda oil fields. The Standard have a rig almost completed on the Kraemer property adjoining the Chapman lease. A company of 30 Fullerton business men have incorporated the River Bank Oil Company and started to put down their first well the past week. This company purchased 43 acres south of Chapman's, and have taken up leases on 260 acres surrounding their purchase at $50 per acre. Among the members of the pool are E. K. Benchley, G. W. Finch, Dr. Chilton, Wilcoulter, E. W. Hemphill, B. Hartfield, Herman Stern, Col. Jones, Dr. D. C. Cowles, Thomas McCart, Mr. Krause, D. F. Linebarger, A. V. Smith, W. R. Ritchey, C. E. Holcomb, and W. C. Heffern. Prices for Yorban Linda land are soaring sky high. A large amount of acreage has already been leased, and on Friday one strip of 66 acres was leased at $1000 per acre, a total of $66,000 for one year lease. Other land owners in the vicinity have been offered a like sum but are in no hurry to sign their contracts, even at such a figure. The called meeting of the stockholders of the Yorba Linda Water Company was held at 10:30 Saturday morning. The meeting was called to order by President Barton and a proxy committee consisting of Mr. Howe, Mr. Shepherd and Mr. Page were appointed. The meeting was report. The San Pedro Lumber Co. has been building a large addition to their lumber shed this week. FEED WOUNDED MEN Over 200 men, most of whom had been severely wounded stopped off Orange Friday on their way to Camp Kearny and were served by the Red Cross canteen. The canteen added a large amount of orange juice to the fresh fruit, chocolate, cigarettes and post cards which they usually give the men. Five cars of casuals, including one of the new hospital cars, few of which are in operation in this country, passed through Orange last Wednesday, men were served with refreshments and the men were served with refreshments by the local canteen. The returned soldiers, who were on their way to Camp Kearny, were warm in their praise of the work of the Red Cross and very grateful for the attentions they received. Mrs. Grace Sutton Poyell, Pacific Coast Field and Town Secretary of the Y. W. C. A., upon the invitation of a number of prominent club women of Orange county, attended a luncheon in Santa Ana recently, where plans for organizing a town and county Y. W. C. A. in Orange co., were discussed. For the past few weeks women all over the county have been working on these plans. A drive is being made for funds to promote the work and also funds for the hostess houses. Most every is already familiar with the work accomplished by the hostess' houses during the war. It is hoped that funds may be raised to support some of the hostess' houses permanently. The cessation of hostilities changed the Y. W. C. A. expenditures very little. It is by the request of the government that some of the hostess' houses will continue in demobilization camps. Thousands of girls engaged in war industries must be helped through the period of readjustment. Y. W. C. A. work in France and Russia cannot stop. At the same time increased demands are made for the regular work of the Young Women's Christian Association and funds to organize a Y. W. C. They report Mrs. Case quite poorly. Mr. and Mrs. Grinninger of the Santa Fe lease spent Sunday in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Connor and son of the Columbia lease, and Mr. and Mrs. Claude Rice and daughter of Brea went to San Pedro Sunday to view the battleship Oregon. The two children of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Abbott of the Columbia lease, who have been very sick, are reported a little better. C.P. Scott and family of the Columbia lease called on his mother, Mrs.V. She had a bad accident some three months ago in which she fractured her hip. She is still confined to her bed. Mrs. Lucy Nelson who spent several days last week at her home in Beilflower, returned to the Columbia lease Friday.
