FULLERTON ENJOYS BUILDING BOOM ALSO Anaheim isn't the only point in Orange-co that is enjoying a boom. Fullerton is hitting the ball also. Most important of its improvements planned for early consumption is a new city hall to cost $20,000. It is announced the city has $160,000 in the treasury for the project now and that contracts have been let already for the city hall to go on the site, an entire block, which has been purchased between Wilshire and Whiting facing Spadra and which it is planned to make into a beautiful park with the city hall in the center. A block has been purchased for a new grammar school on Chapman-ave and a new park and school building is planned immediately. Businessmen also are planning a modern hotel. Whether it will be built near the center of the business district with storerooms on the street floor or whether it will be placed in a park with large lobby will be decided at once. Modern fronts are being placed throutout the Stern & Goodman store buildings. The Christian Science society has acquired a lot and will put up a modern church plant. The Ebell society has purchased two lots and will erect a modern clubhouse. The housing situation is being made by the erection of about 50 bungalows throughout the city. There are nine or ten going up on one street and five building sites on the hills back of town are going gobbled up greedily. FULLERTON PLAYS CORONADO S A T Anaheim high school student body has been invited to attend the championship football game at Fullerton with Coronado high school Saturday. It is pointed out that Anaheim's financial assistance will be appreciated and fitting return for favors shown by Fullerton high school last year when the local clubhouse burned and basketball suits were loaned Anaheim players. Coach Culp and Manager Hawkins of Fullerton witnessed Coronado's 14 to 7 victory over Redlands last Saturday and report Coronado has strong team with a backfield that is big and fast. Luggett, the big and heady Coronado half, just out of the navy, was a member of the famous Balboa Park team which made such a game showing against the Mare Is landers. Fullerton will have a scrap on its hands but there seems to be no stopping the Fullerton bunch this year. Letters to Editor THE SCHOOL PROBLEM Editor Plain Dealer: In reference to new school buildings would like to state that last year I submitted a minority report to the Board of Trade, suggesting that there was a call for and a need of certain increased school facilities. Now only a few months later the schools are so crowded that the new class now ready could not be taken in. I would like to be understood as in no sense being a "booster" for school buildings but an earnest advocate of necessary school room. Necessity and demand should control not just "boosting" for new buildings. As I view the situation there is now needed a new school building west of the state highway, that will accommodate at least a kindergarten and a first and also a second grade. This could be brought about by building three or four rooms now so arranged as to be added to later when found necessary. If the patrons of the school so desire it, the same ever, no additional rooms should be added here as already there are enough children there for the size of the grounds. Let us go ahead and solve the school building problem. A. A. Millis. OLMSTEAD UNLOADS TWO CARS TRACTORS Manager Edw. L. Olmstead of the Avery Company of Orange-co Monday unloaded two of four long awaited carloads of the famous Avery "Bulldog" tractors. One of the two cars contained the first new model 14-25 to reach California. It has a Liberty motor, which the company was making for the government when the war ended. It is a four-cylinder opposed type. The same car also contained two 8-16s and one 12-25, which is the same kind as is used on the Los Angeles-co farm. The other car contained seven 5-10s and one 8-16. The 5-10s are improved with enclosed rig gears and enclosed governor, K. W. high tension magneto and 200 pounds more weight. "We will be able to take care of some of our prospects now, after long delayed shipments," says Mr. Olmstead. Leihy & Co. make the very finest chocolates. You can buy them in bulk or packages at Heying's Pharmacy, "On the Corner." Broken Tractor parts, farm implements, household utensils, automobile parts, electrical goods, anything made of metal can be welded by the Oxy-Acetylene Process. Pistons extended. Every particle of carbon As I view the situation there is now needed a new school building west of the state highway, that will accommodate at least a kindergarten and a first and also a second grade. This could be brought about by building three or four rooms now so arranged to be added to later when found necessary. If the patrons of the school so desire it, the same should be done in the eastern section of the district, say on Placentia-ave, or even farther east if the majority of the patrons in the eastern section want it. The old Central school building was modern some 30 years or more ago but is both out of date and in need of repairs. This should be replaced by a modern building with rooms all on the ground floor.
