NOTICE TO VOTERS AND PATRONS OF THE LOARA SCHOOL, WEST ANAHEIM: A report is being circulated in our School District that the "Educational Phonograph" purchased by a majority of the school trustees was for the purpose of conducting a dancing class in the Auditorium, and that an extra teacher was employed to have charge of the same. We wish to state that this rumor is unqualifiedly false and evidently fabricated by a disgruntled few who do not patronize the school and who are trying a line of mischievous propaganda to disrupt our school on account of not getting special favors and who, being unable to control the policies of the school, are resorting to slurs and slanderous remarks to deceive the unwary and thereby deprive the children of the full benefits of school. The extra teacher was employed upon recommendation and advice of County Supt. of Schools to relieve the crowded condition and that more individual attention be given the smaller children and to improve the situation in many ways. In order hat the children would be encouraged to cultivate a love for music; also to be used in telling interesting stories so as to impress some good motive or principle, or hear patriotic songs or addresses that would instill patriotism and love of country. The wisdom of the purchase is self-evident. We also wish to announce that the policy of the majority of the trustees of the Loara School District in order that the children would be encouraged to cultivate a love for music; also to be used in telling interesting stories so as to impress some good motive or principle, or hear patriotic songs or addresses that would instill patriotism and love of country. The wisdom of the purchase is self-evident. We also wish to announce that the policy of the majority of the trustees of the Loara School District is as follows: To make our School the best in Orange county in proportion to its assessed valuation of one half million dollars. To employ enough teachers consistent with economy and what our valuation would allow, in order that each pupil shall have proper instruction to lay a good foundation for high school and higher education and to make a good citizen. To make our school building more presentable by a coat of paint and by repairing roof. To have our playground and other equipment sufficient that the children may have an opportunity for enjoyment along with their work. To continue to oppose any organization meeting in school house during school hours. The taxpayers and voters of Loara School District who favor the foregoing policies should vote for Archie Henry at election, Friday, March 28, 1919.—GEO. H. BARRY. THE WHITE HOUSE 29 November, 1918 "They shall not Per "They shall not Perish" PRESIDENT WILSON has asked all Americans to rally generously to the support of the Committee for Relief in the Near East, whose campaign comes January 12-19. The need is urgent. Four million refugee women and children, the victims of Turkish lust and brutality, are starving and dying. There is only one possible source of help—America. The other nations of the world can scarce find up their own wounds. Upon what we do—you and I—depend the lives of these millions of helpless women and children. They must not perish—they shall not perish. Where Your Money Goes Give! Every penny of every dollar you give goes to relieve the suffering of some starving refugees. None of it is used for administrative expenses either here or abroad. These, even to the cost of cabling the money—are met privately from funds especially solicited for the purpose. During the past year the Committee has spent in actual relief work $50,000 more than it has received in contributions, the difference representing the interest on daily balances. The money is cabled to the field through the American State Department, and is administered there by United States Consuls, American educators, doctors, and other responsible agents already on the ground and thoroughly familiar with the needs. What Your M The funds are used for clothes, and other supplies if America is to save the peoples. $30,000,000 will feed months three million refuels, and all entirely dependent for the bare necessities.
