KUHLMAN 227-J ANAHEIM, NEWS FROM THE OIL FIELDS WELL AT RICHFIELD BACK ON PUMP AND DOING 200 BARRELS The Amalgamated Oil Company's Thompson No. 1, drilled to 3057, is back on the pump and is doing about 200 barrels. Breen No. 2 is drilling in the oil sand at 3200 and looks good. Kammerer No. 1 is ready to drill out the cement at 2755 and go ahead. A record was made on the Page well. 3096 feet of hole was made in 50 days' actual drilling time as against four and six months often taken to drill wells at Richfield. The Clark Oil Company's Wetzell No. 1 is now at 4340, just ten feet deeper than the offset producer drilled by the Standard Oil Company. At 4346 the Clark well is in sandy shale, and not looking anything extra. The Merchants Petroleum Company is drilling out the cement in No. 2 at 3002 feet and making a water test. No. 3 is going a little slow at 1345 in the conglomerate. Fullerton Will Make Test The Fullerton Oil Company will make a final test of the A. U. W. Co. No. 1 before abandonment. The intention now is to plug up to 4040 and perforate the 6 inch and try for production from showings noted at this depth in drilling. As stated last week, an announcement concerning the Placentia Pacific would be made this week. The Amalgamated Oil Company has taken over the unfinished well and the holdings of the Placentia Pacific Oil Company. Work on the uncompleted well will no resumed at 3685 and carried to completion. The terms of the lease will be announced in a few days. The Wonder Company, Ltd., bid for the property also. in shell at 3000, No. 5 is in shell at 2300 and No. 6 at 1600 is in hard sand. All three wells are drilling with the rotary. Yorba No. 1, the deep well down 3855 feet, set 3711 feet of 6 1-4 and stands cemented. Yorba Linda Group 3 at 2875 is showing an unusual amount of gas. ARCADIA WILD CAT DRILLING AT 3100 The Arcadia Oil Company wildcat well at Montebello is drilling at close to 3100 in hard sand with oil showings enough to make continuance of drilling interesting. A report was circulated a few days ago to the effect that the Arcadia was ready to quit. This report, however, could not be verified. The Comanche Oil Company's Manly No. 1 is now drilling in the oil sand at 3145 ann showings are very encouraging. Production on the Keeler Oil Company's No. 2 declined some, and the well cleaned out came back at 275 barrels of 24 gravity oil. The Pan-American Petroleum Company drilling at Pasadena No. 2 got down to 3442 and set 3431 of six inch and cemented. Prugh No. 1 completed at 3552 sprung a surprise by increasing its production frol 450 to 700 barrels. Germain I-B redrilling at 3700 is practically start drilling new hole. BANDINI PETROLEUM SHUTS OFF WATER Cemented at 3600, the Bandini Petroleum No. 1 was bailed down and tested out a few days ago. The bailing down resulted in the water staying down and it begins to look a though a shut-off has been accomplished. With the water shut off this wildcat is almost a certain produced. The Central Oil Company quit drilling on No. 67 at 1955 and is making preparations to bring in the new well No. 66 shows 2200 in the sandy shale and No. 68 is 2600 in the same formation. Drilling on the Southern California Oil Company's Sanderspn No. 1 is now at 3100, the brown sandy shale carries considerable gas and color. The test at Whitley No. 6 scheduled last week was not completed. This work has been resumed and the sand from 3405 to 3525 will be tested by putting in 6 inch perforated. Whitley No. 5 is redrilling at 2475. The eleventh monthly dividend of 1 percent was paid by the Whitley Company last Friday, $2500 was distributed to 600 stockholders. The Standard Oil Company is about to test out Murphy-Coyote No. 79 drilled to and completed at 450 feet. Drilling on the La Habra Midway No. 1 is now at 2000 feet in blue shale streaked now and then with brown shale. Bradford No. 6 a t1400 is drilling in hard sand. Richfield No. 3 at 2670 is in hard sand. The Petroleum Midway's Richfield-Yorba No. 1 is being prepared to set a string of 4 3-4 carrying 208 feet of screen pipe at 4600 feet. The cementing will be done through the perforations. This deep test well was drilled to 4865 feet and carries considerable interest as its success means a substantial increase to the Richfield district lands. Krug No. 6 shows 2000 feet in hard sand, and No. 7 is close to 2700 feet. Richfield Consolidated No. 5 set the 10-inch at 2885, and No. 6 is building rig. Giant Will Go Down For ten days there has been no activity at the Richfield-Giant. A definite decision to drill deeper has been reached by the directorate. Rigging up starts immediately. The bottom of the hole was originally at 4214, but was plugged back to almost 4000 feet. By going ahead deeper it is the consensus of opinion that the Richfield-Giant will be awarded with a nice producer, a big well. Little by little the Richfield-Yorba Oil Company is getting its No. 1 in shape to produce. Drilled down to 3447 the well is being swabed and cleaned out preparatory to going on production. Should the well hesitate about flowing it will be put on the pump. At 4536 the Ridge Oil Company's No. 1 is now drilling in hard shell and not showing any oil. It is hoped that there will be something found under the hard shell or cap rock. Well Increases Output The Standard Oil Company's Kraemer 2-16, a last week completion at 4250, came in at 525 barrels. The production of this new well automatically increased to 600 barrels. Kraemer 2-17 lost 3940 feet of hole, moved the rig and is now rigging up. Kellogg No. 2 is now drilling in the sandy shale at 4055 and is showing a little encouragement. Good time is being made on Wents Syndicate No. 2. This week the log showed 2855 feet and the drilling going nicely in sandy shale. Monterey No.7 at 2900 feet is drilling in blue sandy shale, P. & B. No.1 is drilling by drill pipe at 3400 feet, Eggleston No.1 averaged 800 barrels net daily for the week. Drilling on the Standard's Howard-Smith No.1 is at 3085 with the digging in shale with streaks of hard sand. Baldwin No.59 is at 3300 in hard sand and No.60 is rigged up and ready to spud in. The Western Pacific set 3240 feet of 4 1-4. The oil sand looked good at 3270 and the next step will be a production test. General Petroleum Has Big Plans For Santa Fe Springs The Santa Fe Springs operations of the Amalgamated Oil Company includes two wells, Deluge No.1 at 2000 feet in blue shale and Butterworth No.2 at 2375 in blue shale. Butterworth No.1 is holding steadily at 360 barrels, gravity 35. The Ceitral Oil Company has spudded in and is drilling. Los Nietos No.1 of the Ceitral shows 435 feet. At Bermudez No.1 the Fullerton Oil Company shows a 1000 foot of hole and the drilling going very smoothly and nicely. The General Petroleum Corporation has extensive plans for Santa Fe Springs. Springs No.1 is rigging up the rotary, Santa Fe No.1 spudded in and made 675 feet of hole, Santa Fe No.2 and 3 are building rig and the lumber is on the ground for No.4. Nevada-Ventura at 2165 The Nevada-Ventura Oil Company is making hole in the blue shale at 2165. Drilling is going exceptionally good with electric motor. Drilling at Bell Community No.1, the Petroleum Midway's No.1 shows 800 feet in blue shale. Blue shale is also the Scientific formation at 2100 feet. Wonder No. 4 is 1900 in hard sand. Chapman Lays Off Again The Union Oil Company is having some difficulty in keeping the famous Chapman No. 1 on production. The well persists in sanding up, and the cable tools are now being run to give a good cleaning out. Chapman No. 5 at 4196 is held up with a fishing job. No. 11 is rigging up the rotary to proceed into the oil sand at 3450. No. 14 at 4116 is showing some oil sand and the core barrel is being run to determine more about the sand. No. 18, 4184 feet deep, is fishing for drill pipe. No. 20 at 3387 is bailing for a water test and looks dry. On the Thompson-Goodwin No. 3 is Nevada-Ventura at 2165 The Nevada-Ventura Oil Company is making hole in the blue shale at 2165. Drilling is going exceptionally good with electric motor. Drilling at Bell Community No. 1, the Petroleum Midway's No. 1 shows 800 feet in the blue shale. Blue shale is also the Scientific formation at 2100 feet. The Standard Oil Company set 10 inch and cemented the Browning-Kelar at 3145. L. A. T. & S. No. 1 is drilling at 3050. Hepler at 2300, Pacific Clay Products at 3055, Sanchez at 2200, South Whittier Community No. 1 at 2100 and No. 2 is a rig. Walfskill No. 1 is at 2800 feet. The Shell Company's Golay No. 1 at which the largest shaft drive rotary ever built is running shows 1000 feet in the hard sandy shale. The efficiency of the extra heavy rotary is yet to be determined. Ready to Cement The Wilshire Oil Company spent the past week balling down and locating the point of entrance of the water in the deep Mayer well and preparations to cement are under way and will be carried out as soon as the weather will permit. The hole will be cemented up to the top of the 6 inch. The Union Oil Company's big well on the Bell continues to flow steadily at 4000 barrels. The pressure is climbing and is now at 700 pounds. Meyer No. 3 cleaned out is back on production and does 75 barrels daily. Bell No. 2 started off with 20 inch and set 33 feet of it, the drilling is now at 1000 feet. Bell No. 3 is 2100 in sand and boulders. Bell No. 4 is rigging up and No. 5 is building rig. Flood No. 1 shows 1400 feet, Alexander No. 1 down 2000 feet is putting 12 l-2 to cement. Sanchez No. 1 set 2000 feet of 12 l-2. Farwell No. 1 is rigging up the rotary and Howard No. 1 is also rigging up. Meyer No. 5 drilled to 4977 set 4155 feet of 8 inch. Meyer No. 4 is drilling in grey sand at 4345. GARDEN GROVE WELL DRY AT 5000 FEET The Standard Oil Company's Garden Grove wildcat is now drilling at 5000 feet. Now, therefore be it resolved, that a temporary organization be formed, designated to immediately effect such plans as may permanently prevent the flooding of land in the said district, Two Committees Provided Be it further resolved, that two committees for this purpose be selected as follows: A committee to be known as the right-of-way committee; the duties of which will be to set out the boundaries of a temporary district; to procure the easement for the placing of necessary protection; to submit recommen­dations and estimates of the work. A finance committee to procure funds by voluntary subscription along an equitable assessment plan, to such an amount as may be found necessary for the performance of the work, between the Santa Fe railroad bridge, north of Olive along the westerly bank of the Santa Ana river, running west­erly and southerly to and connecting with the protection work of the Garden Grove protection district.
