Huntington Owners No. 1 cleared out and is in good production again and is making about 145 barrels. Drilling on the Huntington Union No. 1 is at 4075 feet and the formation is carrying just enough gas and oil colors to make the drilling interesting. Machris Brothers No. 2 is at 3200 feet drilling in sandy shale. The record made on No. 1 was good considering the difficulties encountered. No. 2, however, is drilling in exceedingly fast time. Courtney, field manager for the Sun Oil Company of California, presented his company with a 480 barrel Christmas present. The new well, Sun No. 3, was redrilled and deepened to 2863 feet. The production is running 21 gravity and is the biggest well the Sun Oil Company has yet brought in at Huntington Beach. Courtney was given a free hand and certainly showed the management what he could do. Sun No. 4 also continues to make a nice production of 175 barrels daily. The recent cementing job done by the United Security Syndicate at 3325 failed to hold, and the well is being receited. With the deepening of Copeland No. 5 the Union has five wells drilling at Huntington. Copeland No. 1 at 3145 is in hard shale. Copeland No. 2 at 3250 is in hard shale. Machris Brothers No. 2 is at 3200 feet drilling in sandy shale. The record made on No. 1 was good considering the difficulties encountered. No. 2, however, is drilling in exceedingly fast time. Miller Syndicate Recements The Miller Syndicate failed to get a complete shut off last week on the water at 3736 and recemented. This well is showing up good and is expected to create a real sensation when it goes on production. The Royal Oil Company (E. J. Miley) got a 500 barrel well at No. 2. Drilled to 2752 feet and the ten inch set at 2569 No. 2 bids fair to become a long life producer. No. 1, the discovery well of the east side of the field, came back at 600 barrels. No. 3 is now drilling a well and shows 1100 feet of hole. Preparations are being made to abandon Miley-Keck No. 6. No. 7 cemented at 3600 secured a water shut off and is drilling at 3668. No. 8 set the 8 inch at 3108. O'Donnell No. 1 came in prematurely at 3740 last week, was mudded off to allow a producing string to be put in. On account of the weather and road conditions no work has been done on the well this week. Indications all point to a good well here. Pacific Will Skid Rig The Pacific Oil and Gas Company by loosing a joint of 8 inch in the hole at 2685 has been compelled to abandon the well. Preparations are being made to skid the rig and start a new hole. The Petroleum Midway was the heaviest locator of new wells at Huntington Beach last week. The well has shown considerable oil and all that seems to stand in the way of a good well is the water. No. 3 completed rigging up and made 900 feet of hole. The Rhoades Oil Company has a nice production now from two wells, and will have a third on production in a few days. No. 1 reset the 10 inch at 2263 and is ready to test out again. Edens, pioneer developer of the Huntington Beach field, has taken a contract to drill the wells for the Cal-Mex Petroleum and Refining Company. The first well will be drilled on the north side of the field on the 9-acre lease located between California and Anderson streets. Actual work is scheduled to start as soon as the weather and road conditions will allow it. Due to some confusion with the Cal-Mex Oil and Refining Company the California-Mexican Petroleum Syndicate will change its name and will be known henceforth as the Henderson Oil Syndicate. H.C. Henderson, president of the company, is to be honored by having the Syndicate named after him. Henderson No. 2, over on the north side of the field, spudded in and is now drilling. No. 1 continues to produce 450 a day. Crest Has Pipe Trouble The Crest Oil Company's No. 1 is in a rather serious condition. Two strings of pipe have partially telescoped, and the well will not be in production condition for some little time. It will be necessary to pull the 8 inch and do a lot of sweding and cleaning out. Crest Consolidated shows 2100 feet in sandy shale. The J. J. Doyle well, opposite the Oceanic's No. 1, will henceforth be known as the Doyle-Chune. Oil Company, now about to be taken over by the Globe Petroleum Company. The Rio Bravo Oil Company spudded in and made some hole at Rio Bravo No. 1, formerly the Guarantee No. 1.
