Eight bridges within a radius of eighty miles of Los Angeles have been straked out or seriously damaged, according to reports received by the Automobile Club of Southern California.
Several roads, too, have been ordered closed, either because of washouts or from accumulations of rock, earth and other debris by landslides.
Railroad traffic, over both steam and electric lines, has been seriously impaired by the storm.
At the mouth of the Santa Ana river, on the Newport line, the tracks were cut out and patrons were forced to walk from cars at each end of the break in order to effect transfers.
The Puente-Largo bridge of the Pacific Electric was washed out early in the morning, and tracks of the same line were covered with debris and mud at Santa Ana wash. It was necessary to transfer passengers at both points.
Service on the Whittier-La Habra line water blocked the tracks at Hayre station, where it was necessary to transfer passengers across the San Gabriel River.
The Santa Ana-Huntington Beach line was reported out at Greenville station. Normal service was resumed on the lines to Riverside, San Bernardino, Santa Ana, Long Beach, Redondo, Venice, Santa Monica and Sawtelle.
Trains on the Santa Fe between Los Angeles and San Diego were annulled because of washouts at the southern end of the line, while other reports indicated that all overland trains of the Santa Fe and Union Pacific lines were hailed by landslides in Cajon pass.
Southern Pacific tracks were reported washed out near Indio, blocking overland trains of the Sunset route, and on connecting lines to the Imperial valley. The Southern Pacific bridge at El Monte was reported as being weakened.
PASADENA, Dec. 22—The total rainfall here is 10.28 inches. Snow is falling on Mount Wilson this morning and the entire range back of the city is covered with a mantle of white families that have resided in the Arroyo Seco for years are moving out, saying "never again!" So far as is known, the city has not suffered a many of damage from the five-day storm.

"Cheese, sir?" inquired the Sandow muscled waiter.
"Certainly!" replied the diner. "Catch me a Limburger!"
The waiter made a grab at the sideboard and seized one in the nick of time.
"Now catch me a Gorgonzola!" said the diner.
Grappling with it violently, the waiter brought it over.
"Now," said the diner, "let 'em race across the table to me and I'll take home the winner."
Desirous of buying a camera, the pretty girl inspected the stock of a local dealer.
Is this a good one?!" she asked as she picked up a dainty little machine. "What is called?"
"That's the Belvedere," said the handsome young salesman, politely.
There was a chilly silence. Then the girl drew herself erect, fixed him with an key stare, and asked again:
"Er—and can you recommend the Belva?"
During a Dublin riot two old Irish-women who had sacked a shoe store were seated on the curb trying on the footwear they had purloined. One of them, whose shoes did not fit, returned to the store to get another size. During her absence the other woman disappeared with all the loot.
When the first woman discovered what had happened, she was loud in her complaint of the inaction of the Dublin police, who allowed thefts with such immunity.
