CLUB ISSUES WARNING ABOUT SPEEDING ON WAY TO GAME The Automobile Club of Southern California has made a special warning to motorists who are going to the Santa Ana-Bakersfield game Saturday that traffic officers are patrolling the Ridge Route between Los Angeles and Bakersfield. Heavy fines are being imposed on drivers exceeding the fifteen mile limit. There are warning signs along this road and motorists have no excuse for not knowing the law, the club points out. Officials of the club state that the trip to Bakersfield is about 157 miles from Anaheim, and can be easily reached in 6½ hours by keeping within the speed limit. Fans leaving Santa Ana at 6 o'clock Saturday morning should be in Bakersfield by one o'clock, it is said. The pavement from the foot of Grapevine Canyon to Bakersfield, the club also advises, will be found patched and rather rough, requiring careful driving to avoid meeting the other cars at places where pavement is only wide enough for one car. Motorists taking this trip should travel the Telegraph Road into Los Angeles, as the Whittier road has a very poor detour around the Montebello bridge, which is under repair. Arriving in Los Angeles on the seventh st., turn to the right on Broadway, following same to the fork of Broadway and Pasadena avenue. Take the left fork (Pasadena avenue) to Avenue 20, where, on turning to the left around the Tower of the fire department, you are going north on San Fernando boulevard, which leads directly over the Ridge and into Bakersfield.
