RANCHERS OF COUNTY TO STUDY TRACTORS AT S. A. SCHOOL
Practical lessons with actual work and demonstrations on various types of machines will feature the tractor school to be held under the auspices of the extension division of the State College of Agriculture and the farm bureau in Santa Ana January 70 to February 4, inclusive.
Through the co-operation of the Santa Ana high school, the work will be given in the shops of that institution. Three competent instructors, who have been conducting classes throughout the state will be in charge. Classes will last eight hours each day, starting Monday morning and ending Saturday at noon.
All popular makes of tractors will be used in the classes. The school is not being conducted by any dealer, manufacturer or advertising concern, it is pointed out, and will be entirely under the direction of the State College of Agriculture. Magneto care, carburetor adjustment, babbiting and soldering, valve grinding, bearing adjusting, ignition troubles and general "trouble shooting" will be the subjects covered.
Any tractor owner or prospective tractor owner is eligible to attend the classes. A fee of $2 to cover breakage and general expenses will be charged for the week's session. Entrants will be limited to sixty and enrollment should be made at the Orange County Farm Bureau office, 312 North Main Street, Santa Ana.
FULLERTON
Invitations are being sent out today for the annual New Year dinner and entertainment of the Fullerton Club, which is always looked forward to with considerable interest by the club members and their ladies.
The entertainment committee have decided to hold this annual affair this year on Friday night, December 30, on account of the fact that New Year's comes on Sunday.
GARDEN GROVE
The Garden Grove Parent-Teachers' association was "at home" to its many members in one of the high school bungalows Thursday afternoon. A varied program of music was given. Miss Synthia and Katheryn Kervin in a piano and violin solo, gave "A Perfect Day," and an encore "Peggy O'Neal." Mrs. Wisner and son, Allen, a piano duet, "March Lyrigue and Approach of Spring."
Prof. Hoonshel, cornet solo, with Mrs. Jones as accompanist. All these numbers were much enjoyed and appreciated, for they demonstrated the spirit of co-operation of the association. During the business session which followed, the president, Mrs. Hunt, urged the members to vote for the proposed high school bonds.
Miss Jennie Hedstrom is visiting friends in Pasadena this week.
Mr. and Mrs. E. Notley are spending the week with relatives in Los Angeles.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Wade and Mrs. C. Gleason were Los Angeles visitors Wednesday.
Mrs. W. D. Junkin, who has been seriously ill the past week, is improving at this writing.
Miss Effie Jessup played the wedding march at the Munger-Mitchell wedding in Santa Ana Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Belle Clemmons of Santa Ana is a guest at the R. W. Elliott home this week.
The Tuesday Afternoon club will meet at the home of Mrs. W. E. Henion, Tuesday, December 13. A food and gift sale will be held at this meeting, and all members are urged to be present.
Miss Effie Jessup attended a banquet given by the Santa Ana Musical association at James' confectionery, Santa Ana. Thursday evening. Miss Jessup rendered a piano solo, "Lizap's Etude in B Flat," which was greatly appreciated.
Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Holt and son, Wayne, and J. N. DeVaul and daughter, Mrs. Frank Winters motored to San Bernardino Tuesday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Bert Holt of Imperial, who was killed in an automobile accident. Mrs. Holt was a niece of Mr. DeVaul.
Ralph Chaffee is recovering from a Los Alamitos School Plans Xmas Cantata
Laurel school of Los Alamitos is to give a Christmas cantata, entitled "The Spirit of Christmas," on Thursday evening, December 15, at 8 o'clock. It was also difficult for the committee to secure entertainers for Saturday night they all being booked ahead. The committee have secured high class entertainers from the Orpheum and Pantages circuits and promise an entertainment which will far outclass anything ever seen in Fullerton. At the close of the entertainment the floor will be cleared and all those who wish can enjoy dancing. The card rooms will also be open for those who enjoy card playing.
Fullerton teachers are contemplating a delightful meeting in the annual convention of the California Teachers' Association, southern section, which will be held in Los Angeles from Dec. 19 to 23, inclusive. Prominent educators from several parts of the country will address the members, the opening session of which will be held in the Bible Institute with Merton E. Hill presiding. Dr. Charles H. Judd, University of Chicago, will speak on "A Half Century of Educational Experience" and Dr. G. Bromley Oxham, well known in the southland, will also give an address. Other speakers will be Miss Margaret Halliburton, supervisor of preliminary work of Waco, Texas; Dr. Walter Albert Jeasup, president of the State University of Iowa; Dr. Payson Smith, state commissioner of education of Massachusetts; Frederick Warde, eminent Shakespearean actor; Dr. C. A. Prossor director of Dunwoody institute of Minnesota; Dr. Marion LeRoy Burton, president of the University of Michigan, and others.
As the meeting opens the first Monday in holiday vacation, the greater number of Fullerton instructors are arranging to be in attendance at all the sessions.
Mrs. I. D. Taylor, mother of Mrs. Jeane Fagin of this city, left Tuesday for Miami, Fla., where she will remain until spring when Mr. and Mrs. Jagin will make an automobile trip to Florida, returning by way of Boston and New England.

Invitations have been extended to members of lodges in nearby cities and a royal good time is anticipated.. The lodge is rapidly growing in membership. They meet in Odd Fellows hall.
The Woman's Missionary society of the Presbyterian church will meet on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 2:30 p.m., at the home of Mrs. W. T. Brown, 141 South Pomona avenue. All women of the congregation cordially invited.
