PEMBER, Editor Telephone 540 CHRISTMAS PARTY AT PRESCOTT HOME Mrs. Gus Prescott entertained the members of the Sunshine Philathea class of the Methodist church at her home on West street last night. Early in the evening a short business meeting was held and the following officers for the year were elected: President, Mrs. Prescott; vice-president, Mrs. Lloyd Shrode; secretary and treasurer, Florence Hammill; correspondent secretary, Hazel Withee. After the meeting a social time was had. The main feature of the evening was a beautifully trimmed Christmas tree and a large stocking filled with mysterious packages. Each guest was given a number and allowed to draw a package from the stocking in order of their turn. Much merriment was caused when the packages were unwrapped and the rooms were filled with the music of tin horns, whistles and squawkers. Late in the evening a delicious luncheon was served by the hostess to Mrs. F. Goodsen, Mrs. Silvia Johnson, Mrs. H. Wilson, Mrs. L. Sutherland, Mrs. N. Anderson, Mrs. E. Campbell, Mrs. C. Kestenholtz, Margaret Lawrence, Viola Elliot, Miss Martin, Irene Rietnor, Lelia Seale, Blanch Hixon, Hazel Withee and Mabel Duckett. The Woman's Auxiliary of the American Legion will give a dance at Pressel's hall tonight. There will be good music and a good attendance is desired. The Woman's Auxiliary of the American Legion wishes to announce that they will have a booth at the high school bazaar Friday afternoon and evening. O. E. S. HOLDS OPEN INSTALLATION OF OFFICERS Chispa Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, held an open installation of its officers last night at the Masonic hall. A delicious banquet was served to the members of the chapter at 6:30 o'clock, after which the installation took place. The installing officers were Mrs. E. H. Adams, worthy matron; J. A. Clayes, worthy patron; Elsie Jessurun, marshal; and Mrs. J. McCann, chaplain. The following officers were installed: Worthy matron, Mrs. J. P. Brastad; worthy patron, E. H. Metcalf; associate matron, Mrs. Guy Daniels; conductress, Mrs. T. Haster; associate conductress, Mrs. Harry Sears; marshal, Mrs. J. T. Lyon, proxy for Mrs. E. H. Adams; chaplain, Mrs. Bureson; secretary, J. Kellnerberg; treasurer, Mrs. Margaret Ray; organist, Mrs. Fred James; Ada Mrs. Walter Ward; Ruth Mrs. Charles Harbeson; Esther, Mrs. C. Turner; Martha, Mrs. J. P. Probst; Electra Freda Janss; warden, Mrs. R. Beet, and sentinel, Fred James. During the evening a short program was given. Mrs. Stewart of Long Beach and Mr. Corley of Anaheim delighted the audience with vocal solos, and Dr. J. P. Brastad and Ernest Zitzmann played several beautiful mandolin duets. The chapter presented Mrs. E. H. Adams, the outgoing matron, with a beautiful jewel set with a diamond, given to her by her brother and sister, Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Henderson of Long Beach, Mr. Clayes, the outgoing patron, received a similar jewel, the gift of the chapter. It was set with a diamond, the gift of Mrs. Clayes. Much praise was given Mrs. McCann and Elsie Jessurun for the splendid way in which they conducted their work as installing chaplain and marshal. Light refreshments were served by the committee at the close of the evening. LOVENIA O'TOOLE HOSTESS AT BIRTHDAY PARTY Lovenia O'Toole entertained thirteen of her friends at her home at 903 West Broadway Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 o'clock, the occasion being her thirteenth birthday. During the afternoon, Gretchen Holland gave an interpretive scarf dance. Musical numbers were given by Norma Brastad and Mary Easton, and Lovenia O'Toole recited a humorous Christmas recitation. After the program porch dancing was enjoyed until the luncheon hour. The decorations were in keeping with the holiday season and late in the afternoon places were found around the luncheon table by the assistance of beautiful red rose place cards. At each place were dainty favors of nut baskets overhung with Christmas bells, Mrs. O'Toole assisted by Mrs. J. P. Brastad, served-the delicious two-course luncheon. The little hostess received many beautiful gifts and delighted her guests by showing them the presents which she received on her first birthday anniversary. The invited guests were Gretchen Holland, Ruth Dahl, Grace Jackson, Mary Easton, Madeline Toussou, Lois Wilson, Katherine Volz, Lorraine Ingraham, Norma Brastad, Alice Miller, Charlyn Tedrick all of Anaheim and Evelyn Jensen of Los Angeles. MISS IDA MANTER SURPRISED BY FRIENDS A party of young people from Anaheim and Fullerton delightfully surprised Ida Manter at her home on Nursery avenue last night, the occasion being her birthday. The young people attended the California Theater the early part of the evening and later enjoyed dancing at the Manter home.
