Marine Mail Guard Wounds Two Bandits CHARLESTON, S. C., Dec. 9—Sergeant N. S. Bethaks, marine corps, a guard on a mail car attached to Atlantic Coast Line train No. 80, Jacksonville to New York, early yesterday fired his sawed-off gun five times at three men, two of whom were norgroes, who were throwing packages from a sealed express car ahead. The shooting occurred about four miles from Savannah, Ga. Two of the men were wounded, according to unofficial information and the third man is at large.
