At last week's show, it was called a good draw which to the big majority present was O. K., but last night there was nothing to it that is, according to the writer and 99 per cent of the fans. Burton won, but evidently Referee Neal's glasses were too heavily smoked or else the fog was too thick (as it was outside the old fight shanty) to tell black from white for both hands went up from the referee in token of a draw. The little darky forced the fight for the whole of the four rounds. Time and again he had Young in a bad way but was unable to put over the final crusher due mostly to Young's hanging on tactic which he employed whenever there appeared the slightest danger of going overboard. Only in the last round did the Long Beach boy come through with any of that spectacular stuff that made the fight such a sensational one. Burton worked a short, sharp, stiff right uppercut in the clinches that soon had Young's face a red smear. While the fight was not as good as last week's, still the fans appeared satisfied. In the other bouts, Joe Chaney got a draw with Battling Frankie of Los Angeles with the edge to Chaney who had his more experienced opponent missing time and again like the proverbial gate post. Kid Louie also got a draw with Lucky Flynn in a fight in which he should have won hands down if he had not been prone to cover up so much. The curtain raiser between Battling Herrera of Santa Ana and Young Red Watson was won by Herrera after four rounds of fast milling. Both lads put up a stiff battle. The main event between Chet Neff and George Drew was called a draw. It was a very good boring exhibition. The fans expected to see a fight but Gergie and Chet evidently forgot all about that end of it and gave us some nice fancy work instead. Once Georgie caught Chettie with a little right cross that had a little more steam in it than was intended and thereupon Mr. Drew apologized by slapping little Chettie upon the bare and naked wrist. Judge Dismisses Charge Of Non-Support Of Child With the statement from both sides that the difficulties of Roy S. Schalten, charged with non-support of his infant child, had been satisfactorily settled out of court, the case was dismissed yesterday afternoon by Justice J. B. Cox, Attorney Clyde Bishop represented the defendant. SCHOOL CHILDREN AID IN MAKING STATE ROADS SAFE School children and teachers throughout Southern California and in the local schools are taking an active part in making the highways safe for themselves and otaers. The big prize contest, involving a free trip to Washington, is now bringing in actual results, according to an announcement just issued by the Automobile club of Southern California. One teacher in a Southern California school has put her class to work solving important safety problems. Once each week she marshals the children out into a quiet street and lets them show graphically what dangers attend playing in the street: Skating on main thoroughfares, coasting, playing marbles or ball where autos are passing, is shown to be dangerous. On the blackboard pupils have listed a number of "don'ts" which the children are to observe. The day for the distribution of the prizes is near at hand—December 10 being the last day of the contest. Each principal in the various local schools is filing hundreds of essays Watch Your Step OR YOU WILL MISS ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS THAT EVER CAME TO TOWN HOT TIME IN DOGVILLE WOMAN GETS MILLION AND QUARTER FROM HER OIL LAND Vaudeville in the true sense of the word is offered theater goers of Anaheim who attend the California theater tonight. First of all there is the greatest comine act ever produced in any state "A Hot Time in Dogville," is to headline the bill. This act features Donna, the "original drunk dog," and has been presented on every large vaudeville circuit in the world. The dogs enact an entire play and they are a laugh from start to finish. Stan and Mae Laurel have what they call a conglomeration of fits and gasps, entitled "No Mother to Guide Him." Mr. Laurel has a very comical make-up and the sketch is one of the funniest acts that has ever played the Pantages circuit. Another fine act is offered by Wilbur and Lvke in their success, "Songs, Bumps and Smiles." This duo does a little bit of everything and does it quite well. There is something in this act that will please every one who sees it. Youth must have its fling and the Crocker trier prefer to entertain their audience with something more than just flings. Besides dancing well this trio sings exceptionally good and the audience is sure to like them. Mack and Williams, that pair from the Winter Garden, never tire of inventing little oddities to amuse the people they play for and this year they feature their staircase dance. Besides this dance they also offer something new in the line of songs, steps and stories. For the photoplay to be shown with this vaudeville bill Manager Retlaw has selected Frank Mayo in "The Shark Master." In this picture of the south seas, Mr. Mayo has another of those roles which have made him so immensely popular on the screen. WICHITA, Kan., Nov. 10.—Eight million barrels of oil, has been produced from the 160-acre Shumway farm in the Towanda pool, Butler county, since July 14, 1917, when the first well was drilled in. The land owner, Mrs. George Winchester of Greenwood, Ind., has received as her share $1,250,000. Forty wells were drilled on the lease, which now is producing one thousand barrels daily. At one time it has produced 3,400 barrels, worth $7,500, in a day. It is recognized as the greatest oil lease in the Kansas and Oklahoma fields. IF IT FITS. They have done some wonderful things in this generation, but they never yet have been able to make a wise man out of a fool—and they never will. Cooks and wives do not remain in one place as long as they used to. Many a man who was NOT kept waiting at the church has made up for it after the wedding. Waiting for their wives is the great national sport of husbands. We will say this for these abbreviated costumes the girls wear: They certainly have shown that mere man-made clothes cannot improve on the work of nature. The upkeep is what is keeping most of us down. April showers make May flowers, and it is the reign of law that makes a nation flourish. You can refuse some of the things offered to you, but we all have to accept, the inevitable. A man may lack the courage to stand by his convictions, but did you ever see a fool who lacked the stub- Once each week one audience is sure to like them. Besides this dance they also offer something new in the line of songs, steps and stories. Now that beer is abolished, the world is almost perfect; only let people learn to chew Mr. Voistead's brand of plug and we shall all be ready for Heaven. Another fine thing about going to church on Sunday is that you are not forced to swallow the dust kicked up by a road hog. And if those who furnish our styles should decree short pants for men, those with skinny legs would be too modest to mear 'em. Fairyland Theatre Anaheim’s Popular Playhouse TODAY ONLY!
