PROMOTER ANNOUNCES
FIGHT CARD FOR
FRIDAY NIGHT
(By Billy Darnley)
Another rattling good card seems assured local boxing bugs for next Friday's regular doings at Spark's fistic farm. The promoter has signed up for the feature event Jack Iman and Young Stanley Ketchell, who fought and held Johnny Meyer to a fast draw at last Friday's show. Iman put over the crusher on his man in the second round and thinks he can repeat the trick on the slim boy from the wilds of Montana in just the same time. Ketchell will have the disadvantage in a few pounds and in height and reach, but he figures his superior cleverness and ringside generalship will more than overcome this.
The return meeting between Young Burton, the fast and clever colored youngster of Anaheim, and Joe Chaney of Whittier also is coming in for a big amount of interest. These two boys have been given the semi-wind-up position on the card and will undoubtedly live up to the confidence that has been placed in them.
Three snappy preliminaries are also booked and another great evening of sport can safely be banked upon any time Bennie Heller is on the card. He meets a tough hombre in Babe Flores from Los Angeles and he will know that he has been in a regular battle before the smoke clears away. Flores holds a close decision over the popular little mixer from Perries, and Bennie is anxious to wipe out that stain from his otherwise unblemished record. Two other good bouts are being arranged. Blacky Allen of Brea will meet Young Gatten of Santa Ana at 148 pounds and Carl Eckart of Huntington Beach will mix with Art Espinosa at 135 pounds.
