The bridegroom, Frank Cerio, took her from her home to New Jersey and married her there but arrested shortly after the ceremony on the complaint of the girl's parents. Old Man's Love Eleanor A. Clark, 23 years old, who lives near Poughkeepsie, N.Y., thought it a good thing to give up telephone operating to become the housekeeper of Edward H. Clark 78 years old. Later she married him and says being an "old man's darling" is not all she expected it to be. She is seeking her freedom and claims in her suit that her husband gave her $30 a month to run a big house on and that although he is wealthy he forced her to do all the work. In addition to this she claims her husband was jealous of her and locked her in her room on many occasions. She also states that he made her use the cellar floor for a refrigerator. When ham placed on it became mouldy he told her it improved the ham, made her scrape off the mould, cook the ham and eat it. The justice who is trying the case made the comment: "There should be a law passed that all these old men who marry young women should have guardians appointed for them." She asks $20,000 damages for the failure to marry her and claims that she had been "keeping company" since in the early '80s up to the time he died last December. "Mother" Love. Motion picture studios lured one mother away from her daughter, according to the story brought out in the arrest of a woman in New York City recently. She is the wife of an officer on a United States shipping board vessel. When her husband left port a few months ago, she sold the furniture of their apartment, gave up the lease, and took her five-months old daughter to the home of friends. She left the little girl there on the plea that she was looking for work and would call for the baby in a few days. When she had not returned in three months a complaint was made against her and the police began a search for her. After the search had continued for three months she was INTERESTED IN REAL ESTATE. Wedding Ring Good Here In France at some of the watering places the jewelers are having a run on them for wedding rings. One of them was interested enough to question a young American girl, who was buying a wedding ring, as to the propriety of the girl buying the ring. "Oh, but I don't want to use it for getting married," was her reply. "I merely want to get into the gambling Casino with it." Further questioning brought out the fact that young girls are barred from the Casino, but when they show wedding rings are permitted to enter. The fact that the crop of brides are very young did not escape the notice of the guard, but he shrugged his shoulders, when questioned, and answered: "We can't force them to furnish a marriage certificate with the wedding ring, can we?" "Tied." Love A Dallas wife appealed to the police of that Texas city for protection from her husband.
