T BUYS TO MEET TOMORROW NIGHT HAVE BIG FEED
Tomorrow night, Friday, June 24, all the boys of Anaheim holding memberships in the Y. M. C. A. for the coming summer are to have a big time at the newly organized grounds on South Philadelphia street.
There will be an indoor baseball game between the "Redes" and the "Blues" at 5:30 p.m., followed by a supper, served free of charge to the boys by the committee.
The "Blues," who are the losers in the membership campaign which closed last night, are to do the serving and dish washing. Following the supper there will be more games, and then a grand swim, the first of the season in the pool, which has been painted white and is surely inviting these warm days.
Saturday the big county Y. M. C. A. swimming meet is to be held at Huntington Beach in connection with the leaders' picnic. All boys who were members in good standing of any of the Y. M. C. A. clubs in the county during the past year or who are now members of the Y. M. C. A. in Anaheim are eligible to enter.
The leaders are invited to be present and bring their families. Everybody is to bring their own lunch, and come down to the beach for a real day's fun away from the heat. The swimming meet will start promptly at 10 o'clock, and all boys planning on entering should be at the plunge a little before that time in order to register.
NEGRO IS ADJUDGED INSANE BY COURT SENT TO NORWALK
NEGRO IS ADJUDGED
INSANE BY COURT
SENT TO NORWALK
W. J. Fisher, an insane negro,
struggled with four officers yesterday when he was brought before Superior Judge Williams and two local physicians for an examination.
The negro was adjudged insane and committed to the state hospital and was taken to that institution by Deputy Sheriff Fowler and William Kaesman.
Under Sheriff E. E. French, Deputy Sheriff Zabel and Constables W. N. Carter and Jesse Elliott entered the cell in which the negro was confined at the county jail. It required their combined strength to handle him.
When the officers got the negro out of his cell he broke loose and dashed back in again. After a struggle the officers strapped him and led him to the courthouse and into Department 2 of the superior court where the examination was held.
In the struggle with the negro, Constable Carter sustained a sprained left wrist and Under Sheriff French was scratched on the palm of his right hand. The wound bled for several minutes.
According to Deputy Sheriff Theo. Lacy, Jr., the negro has been violent since last Sunday. He was very noisy, talked incoherently and imagined that he was a physician and palmist.
Fisher was arrested in Fullerton on a charge of vagrancy and was serving a term of thirty days. He was taken to the Anaheim cemetery and the county park with the chain gang on two occasions but refused to work.

SECOND DROWNING IN COUNTY THIS WEEK REPORTED
The second drowning along the Orange county coast this week occurred at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon when Chester Herbst, 14, of Seal Beach, lost his life while bathing in the bay at Sunset Beach.
The body was recovered in a few minutes but efforts to bring back life with the aid of a pulmotor and other methods of resuscitation were unsuccessful.
Herbst was at Seal Beach to spend the day with his uncle, Otto Kelm. Unable to swim, the lad jumped from a springboard at a point in Anaheim bay.
The water was only ten feet deep, but it is said that his body did not come to the surface after he leaped from the board into the water.
A lineman for the Pacific Electric, working on the bridge near by jumped into the bay and recovered the body. A pulmotor was sent from Seal Beach and later members of the life saving corps at Long Beach were called to assist in the attempts to revive the lad.
Apparently buyers are determined to keep on striking until they're out.

MYSTERY OF SHIPS STILL UNSOLVED BY OFFICIALS
WASHINGTON, June 23.—The fate of the "vanishing ships" today threatened to go down in history as one of the unexplained mysteries of the sea.
Officials of the department of commerce admitted that the search for a twentieth century pirate, undertaken after all other theories to explain the disappearance of a half dozen boats off Cape Hatteras failed, so far and produced no rehults.
"I've heard many tell yarns of the sea," said Wayne T. Chamberlain, commissioner of navigation. "But in this case, the facts are there. The Carroll A. Deering and the Hewitt met some strange fate beyond that of which ordinary vessels come to grief."
"The Deering was the schooner that sailed on the shoals, abandoned apparently in calm seas and with the ship and cargo in good condition. The Hewitt and her crew dropped completely out of sight about the same time.
'Of course we don't say flatly that these ships were victims of piracy, but we have and are investigating that angle,' Chamberlain said.

AGED WOMAN LEAVES HER HOME, SEARCH IS BEING CONDUCTED
Leaving her home at 1129 West Chestnut street, Santa Ana, yesterday afternoon, Mrs. B. F. Pieppoint, 54 years old disappeared, and has not since been located.
Mrs. Peirpoint has been ill for two weeks and was advised by her physician to stay in the house.
The missing woman has a daughter Mrs. Vera Burrey, in Huntington Beach, and two sons, Max and Floyd and a daughter, Ethel who are living in Santa Ana. Her husband is in Imperial Valley.
Thinking that his mother might have gone to Huntington Beach to see her daughter, a son searched for her there last night. She was not not located however. Mrs. Peirpoint has several friends in Whittier, but inquiries there proved that she has not been seen there!
Her friends and relatives are greatly concerned over the affair. It is thought that she might become temporarily unbalanced.
BEE KEEPERS HAVE BIG HOPES LARGE PRODUCTION
The change in weather from cloudy to all-day sunshine has quickened the busy bee in his honey-making.
It has not been a good year in the mountains for honey-making. There was a good flow and a good production of orange blossom honey in the valley. In moving bees to the mountains some of the apiaries hoped merely to get enough honey stored up in the sands to feed the bees through the coming winter.

with the deal, was delighted today over the result of his conferences.
“This is a great compliment to the Stewart Fruit company and myself,” he said. “At the same time it gives us an opportunity to approximate a control of the tonnage, an ideal situation from the point of view of the salesman. If, in the next few years we do not bring the growers of the Rogue river valley higher proportionate returns than they have ever had, I will have no apology to offer.”
Robert C. Paulus, general manager of the association, is enthusiastic over the deal. During the past several months Paulus conducted a very thorough investigation of the various fruit marketing agencies and as a result, came to the conclusion that the Stewart Fruit company is entirely independent in all its operations, without "entangling alliances" of any sort.
“Stewart Fruit company has an absolutely clean record,” Paulus said, “so far as I can ascertain. I believe the growers of the Rogue River valley have taken a long step forward in entering into the arrangement.”
LOCAL ACTIVITY
The Stewart Fruit Company of Anaheim is surpassing all records of former years in this season's packing. The company is now in the middle of the fruit season and so far have shipped over 150 cars of packed fruit to eastern markets which is more than the entire season amounted to last year. They are now putting out over three cars a day and even with the enlarging of the house, District Manager W. H. Johnston says that they are still crowded and will in all probability need more space before long. The acreage of this company has more than doubled since the last season and they expect to increase it more before the next season.
The Mayflower and Pilgrim exclusive brands of the Stewart Fruit Company are holding their own in Eastern markets and the prices they are bringing are higher than preceding years.
Late rains bettered the blossom situation, so that the production of honey is stronger than was looked for a few weeks ago. County Bee Inspector J. E. Pleasants says that the apiarists in the mountains are taking out honey. He said that this last few days of sunshine had increased the flow.
The outlook for prices for honey is not at all encouraging. The apiarists are up against a light production and a low price prospect.
A year ago with a record year for production the apiarists were being paid 17 nd 18 cents for their honey and they and lots of orders for car deliveries. At the honey exchange in Los Angeles they were paid 12 cents a pound on delivery. This year the exchange is paying only 3 cents o' delivery.
SIMS ARRIVES FOR CARPET PARLEY IN HIS CHIEF'S OFFICE
WASHINGTON, June 23.—Secretary of the Navy Denby today ordered Rear Admiral Sims to give him complete report on his London "jackass speech."
Any action that Denby may contemplate against Sims will await his formal report on the accuracy of di patches reporting Sims' remarks concerning Irish sympathizers in the United States.
Denby's instructions were given Sims when the admiral reported that the secretary in accordance with orders cabled him while in Europe.
"Admiral Sims denied the accuracy of the statements attributed to him."
The acreage of this company has more than doubled since the last season and they expect to increase it more before the next season.

YORBA LINDA FOUND IDEAL FOR AVOCADO
The importance of Yorba Linda as an avocado growing section was emphasized at a meeting of the Yorba Linda farm center at the Murray Horne home.
With the industry still in its infancy in that section, it was pointed out that climate and soil conditions make Yorba Linda the equal if not the superior of the hill sections of the San Gabriel valley where the avocado is in the lead of the fruits grown.
Dr. Lester Keller and George T. Kellogg were appointed a committee to consider plans for establishing an avocado growers' department in the farm center. The results of their investigation will be given at the next meeting together with a recommendation that the department be established.

"I gave him a written memorandum which amounts to an official order instructing the admiral to inform me in writing wherein he was misquoted and if he could, to state just what he did say in that speech. 'I want an early reply to this order."
Sims was with Denby only a moment. Denby handed him the written order and Sims left almost immediately. Sims then went to call on Admiral Coontz, chief of naval operations, refusing to comment on his conference with Denby.
