AFTERNOON OUT
CLUB GUESTS YESTERDAY
Mrs. C. E. Chamberlain was hostess yesterday to the Afternoon Out Club at her home southwest of Anaheim. The regular business meeting was followed by current events and a social hour.
Refreshments were served to Mesdames Freeman, H. H. Crone, W. C. Brumagim, Ida Dutton, J. K. Brown, J. C. Idor, John Kelley, J. O. Reed.
The club will adjourn for vacation through July-August and September, meeting again in October.
The Baptist church of Garden Grove was the scene of a beautiful wedding last night when Miss Helen Headstrom became the bride of Veron Farquhar of Hollywood. The church was decorated with potted plants, ferns and with garden flowers.
Just before the hour of the wedding Miss Hilde Wideberg of Redlands, accompanied by Miss Ruth Violett, sang "Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms" and "O Promise Me." Following this Miss Violett played the Lohengrin wedding march, and Rev. George Franels of the Orange Baptist church entered, while from the rear of the church and in either aisle entered the ushers and bridgesmaids. Messrs. L. Burr Belvin of San Diego, George Headstrom, brother of the bride, Curtis Sawyer of Los Angeles.
The ushers were followed by the groomsman, Harold Wright of Hollywood, and the bridegroom. Down the other aisle came Miss Grace Davis, gowned in a dainty frock of orchid organdie trimmed in organdie flowers with hat to match. She carried a spray of flowers of orchid shade, designed in garden hat shape. Miss Alice Farquhar, sister of the bridegroom, entered next, dressed in a frock of yellow orchid trimmed with organdie flowers and wearing a hat of same shade. Miss Grace Headstrom, sister of the bride, was the third maid and she was daintily dressed in a pink orchid frock with hat and flowers to match. She was followed by Miss Jennie Headstrom, elder sister of the bride, as maid of honor. She was exquisitely gowned in a creation of blue radium lace over dainty satin and carried a sheaf of deep pink roses and ferns.
Preceding the bride entered little Miss Lucille Griggs, as flower girl. She looked strickingly pretty in her frock of nile green organdie and carried a basket of flowers which she scattered before the bride.
Following the bridal party came Miss Headstrom in a gown of white crepe meteor satin designed with Dutchess lace and pearls. She carried a shower bouquet of lilies of the valley and bridges roses tied with large bows of tulle and dainty knotted white ribbon. Her veil was of Dutchess lace design and hung to the hem of her dress. It was caught to her hair with orange blossoms with a coronet.
Headstrom, who gave her away. The single ring ceremony was used during which the strains of the wedding march were softly played.
The bridal party left the church to the Mendlasshohn march, after which an informal reception was held at the vestibule. After congratulations were received the bridal party was given a formal reception at the home of the bride on the Garden Grove road.
The rooms at the home were decorated with baskets of larkspurs and corsepsus. A short program of music was enjoyed.
Mrs. Farquhar then cut the large wedding cake. Just before going to her room to prepare for traveling, Mrs. Farquhar gave her brides' bouquet to her sister, Miss Jennie Headstrom, as a token of love.
Following the reception the bride and groom left for a short honeymoon. They will return the after part of the week and be at home to their friends at St Andrews Place, Hollywood.
The traveling suit of Mrs. Farquhar was of blue. Her gloves, shoes and hat were of pearl gray.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Headstrom and is well known among the younger set. She attended the local high school and was always popular. She was recently a student of Redlands university.
Mr. Farquhar is the son of Mr. and Mrs.J.D.Farquhar of Redlands and is engaged in a tire business in that city.
