C. Concle, Organizer for Labor in County, Sees Big Opportunity
EFFICIENCY FIRST
A building boom and an "own your own home" campaign seems to be coming in Anaheim. Constant demands for houses and apartments is heard on all sides, and within a few weeks, it is believed there will be in progress the greatest building boom in the history of Anaheim.
C. Concle, organizer for the Central Labor Union declares that people who plan building homes or apartments or any other buildings will find that the unions will co-operate in every way to secure a requisite number of men, first caring for Anaheim skilled mechanics, and in every instance, secure only competent labor and men who will give the maximum of production.
Mr. Concle was particularly pleased with the expressions of John H. Donlin, in Denver a day or two ago. Donlin is president of the Building Trades department of the American Federation of Labor.
The portions of Mr. Donlin's address that particularly pleased Mr. Concle was that part wherein he said:
"We must once and for all stop tying up building operations upon which none but union men are employed," he said, declaring that the cessation of work inflicted injury "on should remove restrictions and effects of combinations from the cost of homes. Labor should insure efficiency."
He predicted that building operations will resume with a rush in the near future.
Mr. Concle declares that the time is ripe in Anaheim for building operations, a plan that will be beneficial to all citizens. There are a great many members of the building trades in Anaheim, and no one need hesitate in starting building because of the help problem, which Mr. Concle declares is not a problem here.
BOXING EVENT AT SPARK'S RANCH TONIGHT
Tonight the third boxing and wrestling tournament will be held at the Sharpe's ranch on the Garden Grove road, beginning at 8:15 o'clock.
The main events will be a boxing bout between Jack Iman of Anaheim and "Knockout" Swall of Santa Ana. Iman will weight in at 160 while Swall will weigh 155. Both of these men are scientific boxers and a four-round exhibition of big interest is expected.
The main wrestling event will be between Strangler Louis Nelson of Anaheim and Barney Barnhardt of Los Angeles. Nelson weighs 160 and Barnhardt 158. Nelson promises to pin Barnhardt's shoulders to the mat in ten minutes.
There will really be two main wrestling events for Al Sparkes is matched against Ed Hahner of Los Angeles. "Al weighs 180 and his opponent 200, but those who have seen Al work lately believe he will take a squint at the visitor from a top position.
Two preliminary boxing matches of four rounds each will be staged also. Kid Fredericks of Delhi meets Young Eckert of Huntington Beach at 135 pounds, and Young Holmes of Santa Ana will meet Kid Pinkney of Santa Ana at 130 pounds.
STREET CARS FOR ANAHEIM IN NEAR FUTURE IS PLAN
Street cars in Anaheim in the form of two or more busses running north and south and east and west from Los Angeles and Center streets is something people of Anaheim may see within thirty days.
The Anaheim Motor Transfer company, mentioned a few days ago in the Herald expects soon to start the operation of two or more busses that will operate on Center and Los Angeles streets.
The busses will stop at street corners, the same as street cars, to take on and discharge passengers, and will start at 6:30 a.m. and run throughout the day and late in the night, at least until the picture shows and other places of amusement are closed. The busses will operate on a twenty minute schedule.
The busses will operate north and south from Broad street to the sugar factory site, and east and west on Center and East street to the packing house district of West Anaheim.
Universal transfers will be issued it was stated today. The fare will be
with the expressions of John H. Donlin, in Denver a day or two ago, Donlin is president of the Building Trades department of the American Federation of Labor.
The portions of Mr. Donlin's address that particularly pleased Mr. Concle was that part wherein he said:
"We must once and for all stop tying up building operations upon which none but union men are employed," he said, declaring that the cessation of work inflicted injury "on ourselves and injustice upon the investor and hurts the general morale and well being of the community."
"We must not injure communities, cause innocent persons to suffer pecuniary losses, not to mention mental anguish, the danger of financial ruin, as well as cause our great rank and file to suffer incalculable loss.
"Jurisdictional disputes are not only the most dangerous problems to organized craftsmen, but a serious menace to industry."
Mr. Donlin declared that he believed jurisdictional strikes generally are the "result of demagogues and aspirants for office, or they emanate from a class of workers which it is impossible to satisfy, or for reasons that will not stand for the magnifying glass.
"Capital and management must start up all industries, labor agreeing to a maximum output per individual, thus keeping wages up and the cost of living down."
The aggregate wage paid to building workers is not high or responsible for the high cost of buildings, said the labor leader. He blamed the high cost of living on "high financing, excessive overhead, excessive profits, combinations organized through the years just passed, that now in different economic conditions still are practicing their nefarious scheme to protect one and the other at the cost of the consumer."
Urging that a campaign of home building be inaugurated at once, he said: "It can be done more expeditiously and cheaper now than in the recent past or in the near future."
"Now is the opportune time to build homes. Banks should remove any obstacle in the way of borrowers and make their loans inviting to those who would build. Material men"

IF SKIN BREAKS OUT AND ITCHES APPLY SULPHUR
Just the moment you apply Mentho-Sulphur to an itching, burning or broken out skin, the itching stops and healing begins, says a noted skin specialist. This sulphur preparation, made into a pleasant cold cream, gives such a quick relief, even to fiery eczema, that nothing has ever been found to take its place.
Because of its germ destroying properties, it quickly subdues the itching, cools the irritation and heals the eczema right up, leaving a clear, smooth skin in place of ugly eruptions, rash, pimples or roughness.
You do not have to wait for improvement. It quickly shows. You can get a little jar of Mentho-Sulphur at any drug store.
