CHAMBER TAKEES UP IMPORTANT MATTERS NOONDAY LUNCHEON At the weekly luncheon of the directors of the Chamber of Commerce today a most interesting discussion for financing the Valencia orange show next year was teed by Adoll Thomas, president of the Golden State National bank of this city. It is hoped by the Chamber of Commerce that ranchers will give their financial support to the show next year more generously than they were called upon to give this year. Complaint was lodged with the Chamber regarding the unhealthy condition allowed to exist in the neighborhood of the Mills dairy. A committee will look into the matter with the end in view or having Mr. Mills abate the nuisance. A special committee was appointed to look into the two hotel propositions in Anaheim at this time and empowered to extend all possible aid to the promoters. The candidacy of Dr. Remsberg of Santa Ana for the position of harbor commissioner and a telegram was sent to Brooklyn offering to meet a delegation of some 125 people the Brooklyn Eagle is sending to Honolulu when they reach Riverside during the present month. It is the plan of the Chamber to escort the party from Riverside through Orange county to Los Angeles. Weber's Book TULARE, Cal., June 3.—Even the professional hoboes are modernizing their methods, if the tactics of a hobo who recently visited here are any indication. The most up-to-date and modern "Weary Willie," scorning the old time "side door Pullman" in one of Henry Ford's latest productions, and parked it in front of a prominent store. From the machine he took a bundle of old clothes, tucked them savagly under his arm, and started on a campaign of high finance. Humbly he approached passersby, saying he was out of a job, and asking for "just two bits to get a cup of coffee and a bite to eat." After varying but apparently satisfactory results he went back to his car, threw his old "work" clothes into it, deftly rolled and lighted a cigarette, climbed in, bumped the starter, and was gone. CAULDWELL GIVEN LONG PRISON TERM Clarence Cauldwell, found guilty of a statutory offense against a minor girl several weeks ago, was sentenced today in Santa Ana to a term of from one to fifty years. Cauldwell's attorney, following the jury's verdict of guilty several days ago, made application for probation. The hearing was set for today and upon hearing the petition, denied the same and sentenced Cauldwell to San Quentin prison.
