Hundred Babes Examined Today
Mothers Listen to Lectures, Committees, Hostessess Work Long and Hard
TOMORROW FINAL DAY
Despite the rain the babies will show up in large numbers at the Welfare tent. At noon today over 100 babies had been examined by home and out of town physicians.
The following hostesses have charge of both programs today: Mrs. Jayne as chairman of program and Anaheim hostesses with Mrs. Henry Adams, Mrs. A. H. Witman and Mrs. A. B. McCord working with her.
Mrs. McFadden as Placentia chairman, with Mrs. W. W. Crozler, Mrs. Riddlebarger, Mrs. Hill and Mrs. Kuehl assisting.
Mrs. H. A. Johnston as chairman of all committees was busy as were her assistants.
Mrs. C. E.-Phillips, register, and head of the information department, was surprised at the large attendance this morning.
The program yesterday was one of much interest. Miss Hobson, public nurse of Garden Grove, gave a very interesting talk to the mothers. Mrs. G. H. Goodale spoke of the interest of the Community Shop, its meaning, etc. She told of the many garments that had been made from cast off clothing and displayed these articles.
Saturday afternoon will be the final day of the Baby Welfare program. After the 2 o'clock program Dr. Newkirk will give a short talk to the mothers of the registered babies, telling them of the reason for defects in the children and awarding the prizes to the winners.
Tomorrow's program follows:
HARDING'S SISTER BEFORE FILM TO COMPLETE SCENE
Mrs. E. E. Remsberg of Santa Ana, sister of President Harding, kindly submitted to the motion picture camera of the Fox Weekly, in the hands of Blaine Walker, this morning in front of the exhibit of the American Fruit Growers, ins., where were displayed as a background the cups and tropiles won by this important exhibit in the California Valencia Orange Show.
Films of all that were taken will be submitted to Mrs. Remsberg for her approval and such rootage as is approved by her will be sent immediately to President Harding at Washington to be shown with his picture, sending the message opening of the California show from Washington, thus making a complete picture in motion of the president's part in the transaction, the Anaheim phase, and the culmination showing Mrs. Remsberg in the act of packing with loving care the sweepstake oranges intended for her brother.
HERE'S AN EGG WITH A RECORD
NORTH VANCOUVER, B. C., May 20—British Columbia yields the palm on the egg question to no one. A prize hen, either by design or by accident, came forward with one of the best eggs that ever graced an egg-nog or did a flip-flop in a pan or was served with the sunny side up.
The egg measures eight inches in length and seven inches in circumference, and was laid by a one-year-old White Wyandotte pullet. Though no extensive investigation has been made to determine the contents of the egg, experts believe the shape of the shell indicates a single yoke.
The reason the girls don't like a bad egg is because he tries to get fresh.
CANADIANS LIKE GRAPEFRUIT NOW
VICTORIA B. C., May 20—People in British Columbia and other parts of Canada who have taken a fancy to California and Florida grapefruit and other citrus fruits as delectable breakfast diet are to suffer from Sir Henry Drayton's new budget proposals.
Handlers of citrus fruits are paying an extra tax of one dollar per hundred pounds on carloads recently received from Florida and from California. Hitherto all citrus fruits have come in duty free. Wholesalers are passing the duty onto the retailers, and the consumer is the goat.

MAN TAKES TRIP WITH AUTO-CASH
Constable A. W. Wood has notified Sheriff Jackson that he has a warrant for the arrest of Ernest J. Bolting, who is charged by Mrs. Harrriet E. Sherman of Long Beach, with obtaining property and money under false pretenses.
According to Wood, Mrs. Sherman gave Bolting money to have her Studebaker automobile repainted in Anaheim. Bolting is said to have disappeared with the money and the car.
The Studebaker car is a 1917 model and bears a 1920 license number 271-614, motor No. 68454.
Bolting served two years at San Quentin for having passed an alleged worthless check, according to Wood.
