Poultry Ranch, Market Hit In Anaheim Capers A burglary was reported at the Northgate Market, 724 N. Los Angeles St., by store manager Clyde Leaker. The incident occurred sometime between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Wednesday, and was reported to police Thursday afternoon. Police ascertained that entrance was gained to the market, from which one case of quart bottle beer was stolen, by striking the lock on the south gate with a hammer and springing it open. The case of beer which was valued at $6.88, was removed from a cooler in the store. In another burglary, where a hammer was also employed to spring the lock, the Double H. Poultry ranch at 918 Romneya was robbed yesterday of $120 by person unknown who entered the cold storage locker and removed the money placed there at 1:30 p.m. by Daniel E. Glover. The money had originally been taken there from the egg ranch at 1011 W. La Palma for safekeeping. HONORED — Col. Robert G. Davis, (right) son of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. He "Travels" All Right! by Abigail Van Buren DEAR ABBY: My father is 74 but he doesn't look his age and lately he hasn't been acting it, either. He's retired and lives a few months here and a few months there. (You might say he "travels." heard from my sister in Canton, Ohio, that Daddy was there with her new wife. Last spring he brought his new wife here and they stay with us. He met her in Florida and said he married her in Cuba. His name was Maybelle. My sister said he and his wife were there after her name was Della. My husband says if he comes back he'd better bring Maybelle or he isn't going to let him in the house. We never had this kind of trouble with Daddy before and Mamma's been gone 16 years. Can you tell me how to cope with it? DEAR DAUGHTER: You had better talk to Daddy like a Dutiful Uncle. Either he is not going through the formalities of marriage or divorce or he has failed to mention these technicalities. Cavorting was assorted make-believe "missuses" (at any age) can land Daddy in the Paddy. DEAR ABBY: I would like your honest opinion of what I going to ask you. What do you really think of a husband who is from perfect himself, who professes great love for you and then takes you to your face that you are ugly without make-up? I have practically lost all feeling for him over this and wonder if possibly I could be wrong. Thank you kindly. UGLY WITHOUT MAKE-UP DEAR UGLY: Your husband's choice of words is something less than exquisite but I think he means well. Don't be upset over this. Kill and make up and make-up and kiss! DEAR ABBY: There is a little store near us where I have tried for five years. I run a little bill and usually pay at the end of the week. Sometimes I leave a slight balance if I am short. The owner of this store is a man in his fifties. Lately when I go to the store, pats me here and there. I am married and have a family. Sometimes catch him looking me over. He said once I shouldn't worry about running a bill as my credit was good with him and maybe we could make it deal." What do you suppose he meant by that? WONDERFUL DEAR ABBY: There is a little store near us where I have traced for five years. I run a little bill and usually pay at the end of the week. Sometimes I leave a slight balance if I am short. The owner of this store is a man in his fifties. Lately when I go to the store, pats me here and there. I am married and have a family. Sometimes catch him looking me over. He said once I shouldn't worry about running a bill as my credit was good with him and maybe we could make "a deal." What do you suppose he meant by that? WONDERING. DEAR WONDERING: Never mind what he meant. Do not any bills with him. Just RUN! DEAR ABBY: Please don't laugh at my problem as it is very serious to me. I am 20 years old and am engaged to a wonderful mans who is studying for the ministry. My little brother (13) has been threatening to tell him something that has bothered me for years and I don't know if (or how) to tell him. You see, my family tells me very loud for a girl. DEAR GIRL: Why not see an Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Specialist? Perhaps he can help you. If it can't be helped, don't worry about it. At 13, he had his own radio show and came to Hollywood in 1940 where he got his screen start in "Rolling Home to Texas" with Tex Ritter. Since that time, he has shared top billing with many western actors and singers. In 1948 he formed his famous band, "The Western Caravan," a group still active. At various times he has guested on most of the top shows in radio and TV. These include the Spike Jones Show, National Barn Dance, Grand Opry, Jo Stafford's Chester Supper Club and many other four seasons he starred in a work radio show and for a while had a TV show on KRCA. All during this time he had timed to record, and has waxings with Dinah Shore, nessee Ernie Ford, Roberta and Jo Stafford. He and his band were also timed in the first all-western "Symphony Under the Stars," sent by Hollywood Bowl. That successful night, all-western has become a yearly publication. Williams has also had his in the writing of successful Besides penning "Smoke, Smoke," others of his in "Close that Door, Riccito," "Talking Boogie," and "H Boogie."
