Movement of some 93,000 volumes from the old building is expected to be completed April 20.
Remodeling of the old structure to serve curriculum research for the education division will be begun immediately, according to Francis Flynn, dean of development.
"Our new addition, combined with the remodeling of the old, will give LBSC library facilities second to none in the state college system," Charles J. Boorkman, college librarian states.
"Especially helpful will be the increased seating capacity," Boorkman adds. "From less than 300 in the old building, we'll increase to 1750 with the addition."
The main floor features services for education and psychology and includes a large stack area, reference room, and reading room, supplemented by special typing and conference rooms.
The second floor will specialize in materials for social science, and business.
Each floor will have check out stations. The operation will be followed.
The addition adds 74.0 feet of floor space to the 19,000 for a total of 93.00.

Battle In Our Society
"Life is a contest between those who want to move forward and those who wish to remain where they are. Some people have a restless urge to venture further and further into the unknown. Other people want to go back to the familiar ways of the past, to the old teachings and the old religion. Unitarians hold that we should preserve the good of the past but we welcome new changes that carry the promise of greater good in the future."
You've just read an excerpt from "Open, Frontiers and Closed Minds," the sermon which Rev. Grant Butler will deliver to the Unitarian Society of Orange County this coming Sunday.

Singers Named for Choraleers’ ‘The Creation’
On April 19, Betty Shannon Mason, soprano, Craig Frantz, tenor, and Lawrence Herring, bass and Eleanor Blucker, contralto, will perform the solos in Part III when the Afaheim Choraleers sing “The Creation.”
Betty Shannon Mason of Fullerton had leading roles in operettas as a child, later going on to radio and recitals in her teens. A graduate of the University of Washington, she served as Chaplains Assistant in the WAC during World War II, in which singing and playing the organ for services of various denominations was a regular duty. A member of the Roger Wagner Chorale since 1954, she resigned to join a more local group, namely the Choraleers.
Craig Frantz is a native of Philadelphia and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He was a member of the Roger Wagner Chorale and sang the tenor role in the First Presbyterian Church’s presentation of “The Redeemer” on Good Friday, as well as other solo work throughout Southern California.
Eleanor Blucker has been a member of the Choraleers since its inception two years ago. She recently performed the contralto role in the First Presbyterian Church’s presentation of “The Redeemer” on Good Friday.
Lawrence Herring was awarded superior rating of the Music Festival at Otterbeen College in Ohio and the advanced group at the 1950 Junior Music Festival of the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs, as well as winning the Middleton Symphony audition in 1950. His past performances in Orange County include a role in the Choraleers production of the life of Stephen Foster in September and sang the part of King Melchoir in “Amahl and the Night Visitors” presented in December by the voice students of Mrs. Winifred Sloop. The last three artists are students of Mrs. Sloop.
The concert, directed by Winifred Sloop, with Mary Stewart at the organ, will be given at Anaheim High School at 4 p.m.
