Bulletin Friday, April 16, 1959 'Wagon' Living Show Due Here "Design for Station Wagon Living," one of the most successful industrially-sponsored exhibits ever to tour the nation, opens a seven week stay in the Los Angeles area April 16 at Farmer's Market, Third and Fairfax. The exhibit, which is a colorful display of the latest inventions and ideas for outdoor recreation and travel will run April 16 to April 25 at the Farmer's Market, April 30-May 9 at Eastland Shopping Center in West Covina, May 14-23 at South Bay Center in Redondo Beach and May 28-June 6 at the Broadway Orange County in Anaheim. It is open to the public and admission is free. An array of more than 250 camping, sport, and picnic items is included in the show, which occupies approximately 10,000 square feet of ground area. A featured exhibit is the world's first "Push Button Camper," a Ford station wagon which automatically sets up a tent with sleeping space for four, rolls out a complete electric kitchen, and unloads a plastic boat when the controls are operated. It even has its own power operated shower bath. The "Push Button Camper" will be demonstrated frequently throughout the show. The station wagon presentation is the first of four units of Ford Motor Company's new American Road Shows to go on the road this season. Success of the station wagon show during 1957-58, when nearly 3,500,000 persons visited the exhibit in 28 cities, inspired the launching of two new units featuring Suburban Living, and featuring Country Living, for the 1950 season. GM Framington Plant to Be Changed To Production of Chevrolet Autos DETROIT — Operations at General Motors' Plant at Framingham, Mass., will be converted from assembly of Buicks, Oldsmobiles, and Pontiacs to production of Chevrolet passenger cars, GM President John F. Gordon announced today. Responsibility for management of the plant will be transferred sometime before the end of 1959. Increase our passenger car assembly on the eastern seaboard," Gordon said. "Establishment of Chevrolet's first New England assembly plant will enable that division to better serve its dealers and customers in that region.
