A bill to ban subliminaling now is before the State Legislature in Sacramento, a measure to declare it could amount to a vicious brainwashing in the community most depraved sense. Offers interesting speculation on what extent the prescient commercial is subtle.
The bill would prohibit mission of "any radio or signal which carries a tisement or other message is perceptible only to conscious mind or as the normal listener would be consciously unaware subliminally."
It is true that the multimercials are conscious especially since the sound is deliberately in that even the listener instantly for the next pursued by the caterer to prohibit increasing of sound when the comes on, would be a too.
Doggerel Commercial
But the intent of the background for the doggerel is to appeal to the suicidal mind, even more than the sensual mind. The plan is a catchy musical phrase listener will fix in his sensuality to such an extent recur to him at other times.
Everyone who hears multimercials, even to a litent, will find this to be will find that some—catchy ones—will ring

Dancers will audition for the Whittier Civic Light Opera Association's twelfth production "The Pajama Game," 8 o'clock tonight and Friday, at the Bailey Auditorium, 215 W. Hadley, Whittier, announced Raoul Appel, choreographer. Singers will also audition the same nights.
Wanted are dancers with ballet and/or jazz training. One of the top "Pajama Game" cast members is a dancer. A loud, brassy individual in the musical show, she must be played by an individual who is both a good actress and a character dancer.

Appel brings an extensive dance background to the light opera. He was choreographer for seven years at the famed San Diego Starlight Civic Light Opera Association, was head for two years at the U.S.C. A bill to ban subliminal advertising now is before the California State Legislature in Sacramento as a measure to declare illegal what could amount to a vicious type of brainwashing in the Communist, or most depraved sense. This also offers interesting speculation as to what extent the present "musical" commercial is subliminal.
The bill would prohibit transmission of "any radio or television signal which carries any advertisement or other message which is perceptible only to the subconscious mind or as to which the normal listener or viewer would be consciously unaware except subliminally."
It is true that the musical commercials are consciously heard, especially since the volume of sound is deliberately increased so that even the listener who leaps instantly for the next room is pursued by the caterwaul. (A bill to prohibit increasing the volume of sound when the commercial comes on, would be a good idea, too.)
Doggerel Commercials
But the intent of the musical background for the doggerel words is to appeal to the subconscious mind, even more than to the conscious mind. The plan is to offer a catchy musical phrase that the listener will fix in his subconscious to such an extent that it will recur to him at other and later times.
Everyone who hears such commercials, even to a limited extent, will find this to be true. He will find that some—the most catchy ones—will ring in his ears.
ALL-STAR CAST — Benny Goodman heads the all-star cast of "Swing Into Spring" on the CBS TV network's hour-long show Friday. Ella Fitzgerald (left) and Peggy Lee (center) are joining in this show which will celebrate Goodman's 25th anniversary in show business. Sponsor of the show is Texaco.

The plan is to offer a catchy musical phrase that the listener will fix in his subconscious to such an extent that it will recur to him at other and later times.
Everyone who hears such commercials, even to a limited extent, will find this to be true. He will find that some—the most catchy ones—will ring in his ears afterwards, and sometimes come back to haunt him mentally hours or days after that. This, ipso facto, as the attorneys say, also is subliminal advertising, particularly to the normal, musically untrained listener.
The object of the singing commercial is to establish a theme as the badge of the vended product, and to drum that theme so thoroughly into the subconscious mind that the listener will pick it up and mentally hear it over and over again long after the initial yowling has ceased. The value of the music to the advertiser is in direct proportion to its reiterative excitation.
If this is not subliminal advertising, what is?
