ROOM LOCATION
CAN KEY COLOR
The location of a room in which carpet is to be used may often be clue for color selection.
Rooms which get a great deal of natural light and sun — those on the south or west side of a home could be complemented with cool carpet colors. Soft greens, blues or green - gold shades offset glare and balance the natural lighting of such a room.
Rooms which are just the opposite — receiving less natural light or located on the north might need the balance of a warm color. Bright, warm shades such as gold, red or mellon help to make such a room seem cozier and more invitable.
The range of carpet colors today is so broad that just the right tone can be picked.
Home Fences Are Back in Style
Oddly enough, the tremendous growth in outdoor living during the last ten years has brought about the revival of the once widespread custom of fencing in the home grounds. For a time fences were thought to be tainted with unfriendliness.
Homeowners have found a happy solution in steel fencing — either chain link or woven picket. Steel fencing gives control of the outdoor area, but does not shut out the view. The friendly way to obtain the amount of visual control required is with shurbs along the fence.
Steel fencing is nonclimbable, and your pets can't get out and neighborhood pets can't get into Garden - destroying animals are shut out also.

MAKE YARD OF SAFETY A 'M'
The person who does no enter-prising makes no mistakes. Similarly, these same people have little concern about industrial accidents and personal mishaps.
But there is something in the air every year at this time that brings out the enterprising in most of us.
Gardens to be turned, lawns to be rolled and prepared, yard furniture to be painted, garden tools to be spruced up and painted and sharpened, and power equipment to be serviced.
With spring at the door and the summer ahead the home gardeners and "how - to - do it" fans will be climbing ladder's, juggling tools, sharpening blades and mixing up magical concoctions

Work Magic With Mirror for Decorating Home
Mirrors, when wisely placed in a home, reflect more than an image!
Mirrors may also reflect the homemaker's good taste and originality in home decorating.
Mirrors offer an illusion of space, which is especially important to a small room. Waste wall space becomes a thing of beauty with the addition of a handsome mirror.
Even the most perfect room attains a more gracious, modern feeling when mirrors are added.
Outdoor areas may be brought to both sides of a room with a mirror to reflect the beauty from out the window.
New and very handsome are the full-length sliding door mirrors. They are quite easy to install and come with a "finger-tip" sliding unit.

spring at the door and the ar ahead the home garden-"how - to - do it" fans will bing ladders, juggling harpening blades and mix-magical concoctions to make things grow — or die.
Start now to make this summer safe as well as enterprising. Check all the equipment in the garage, or basement to make certain it is functioning properly. Survey the yard after a day's activity to make certain no upturned rakes or other similar, pointed or sharp-edged tools are left exposed to endanger youngsters and pets.
Keep fuels and chemicals safely out of the reach of inquisitive, sticky little fingers.
Failure to whip the crabgrass problem can be written off as "gardeners luck." Failure to practice safe gardening is just carelessness and lack of consideration for others.

Life for Carpets
You can add extra years to the life of your carpet and maintain its best appearance by following a few simple suggestions while your carpet or rug is in use.
In addition to regular cleaning, remember:
It helps to turn room - size rugs around once or twice a year in order to distribute wear evenly.
It helps to lift furniture when it is moved. Pushing heavy pieces causes unnecessary abrasion on carpet fibers — and unnecessary strain on a mover's back.
It helps to rearrange furniture, or shift furniture even slightly within a room. You can thus avoid undue pressure on a single area of the carpet and also change a traf fic pattern within a room.

wood Good For Improvements
Used out of doors, subject to rain one day, sun the next, redwood shows scarcely a tendency to warp, split, shrink or swell. Even long exposure to dry heat does not affect redwood.
Left untreated, redwood mellows with age. To many, it becomes more beautiful as it gradually darkens and eventually bleaches to a soft, driftwood gray.
If you'd like to see the newest, most exciting ideas for using redwood, send for the latest full-color brochure, "Redwood for the Home," available free from the Simpson Redwood Company, 1031 White Building, Seattle, Wash.
