Advise Veterans Of Unemployment, School Benefits
Veterans training under the Korean GI Bill may not draw GI unemployment and GI training pay at the same time, since simultaneous use of the two GI benefits is illegal. Veterans Administration said today in answer to numerous queries.
Even though a veteran is not working while taking Korean GI Bill training, he still would not be eligible for the unemployment allowances.
Unemployment payments are limited to Korea veterans actively looking for work, who are not receiving GI training benefits.
A veteran who, for any reason, does draw both payments at once would be required to return his unemployment allowance to the state from which he received it. Also, under the law, he may be liable for a fine of up to $1,000, or imprisonment of up to one year, or both.
Unemployment pay — administered by the U. S. Department of Labor through the states—may range up to $26 a week for a maximum of 26 weeks.
BREA HIGHLIGHTS

A lovely ranch in beautiful Illinois River Valley in southern Oregon was where Mrs. Pansy Williamson, 224 South Randolph, spent part of her three weeks vacation, visiting with friends.
More friends from Medford and Ashland, Ore., also demanded some of her time. She reports cool weather added much to the enjoyment of her trip.
Before returning to Brea, Mrs. Williamson spent some time with relatives in Chico, Calif.
Lots of fishing and camping out proved to be just the thing for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schweitzer and sons, Charles and Donny, 421 South Poplar, for their three weeks vacation. The state of Idaho offered many lakes and streams to be worked over by the boys. Sun Valley, Red Fish Lake and Priest river, were some points of interest visited. While at Priest river the Schweitzer's had a lovely visit with an old Brea resident, Earl Merrifield.
Seattle, Wash., offered an interesting visit with Elsie Bergman's sister and the Schweitzers stayed there for three days. While in Seattle they took the unforgettable day boat trip to Victoria.
As all good things must come to an end, so do vacations, and they started home still taking in a few sights, such as the beautiful redwoods and the Oregon Caves, however, they did begin to hurry home to see the baby of the family that was left behind.

Returning from three weeks vacation in Colorado are Ms. and Mrs. Robert Pettyes and daughters, Cheryle and Michael Aelee. Most of their time was spent with Mrs. Pettyes's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Garrity in Denver, with her brother, William J. Garrity and family, in Sterling. While these Mrs. Pettyes was quite thrilled by seeing another brother, Larry Garrity, from Omaha, Nebro who is a traveling auditor for an insurance company, and she hadn't seen each other since 1950.
Some points of interest they seen were Colorado Springs, mountain zoo and the higher road in the world leading up to Mt. Evans, where there were plenty of snow for a good or snowball fight.
While in Denver, Pettyes had an automobile accident. Fortunately no one was hurt, but a great deal of damage was done to the car. It required repair work that took a week to complete. Mrs. Pettyes blames the accident on her husbands three of catching 70 yes 70 fish whi
