Santa Ana Starts Action to Get First Parking Lot
SANTA ANA (OCNS)—Santa Ana City Manager Carl Thornton told the Santa Ana City Council Monday night of action that is beginning to unfold on the city's municipal parking lot number one, after nearly two years of being on the council's desk. One of the few problems remaining to the council is deciding how to pay for the lot and out of which fund.
A price of $66,000 dollars has been decided on for one of the properties by the owner, Orange County Title Company. The title company will charge 5 per cent interest on the price until it is paid up starting in August. Rent monies derived from the properties by the title company will be kept by it during the legal proceedings but any rent received will be deducted from the total interest.
Money can be taken out of the parking meter fund, to build the lot for the city's portion of the cost; or bonds can be sold on the lot for the city's portion of the cost; or bonds can be sold on the lot after its construction.
Members of the parking district in the immediate area will have to pay a portion of the cost with the city. Thornton told councilmen that he is unable to get together with two of his property owners on a price. One of them wants $60,000 for his parcel of land while appraisers for the city insist that $45,000 is all that the property is worth. Condemnation proceedings have been started on the two owners that cannot agree with the city on a price, but a court hearing has not yet been asked for. Thornton estimates that the lot will be done in early fall, even though the property must be condemned if

County Planners' Decision Due To On Multi-Million Dollar Trailer Park
SANTA ANA (OCNS) — What is billed as the finest park in the U.S. came up for a variance when the Orange Planning Commission met this afternoon.
Rex Thompson has applied for the trailer park use of just north of Dana Point and on the ocean side of Pacific Highway. The property is owned by the Chandler-Smerman Land Co.
Thompson's development would provide 109 trailer spaces. Sites for the trailers would range from 1600 to 4000 square feet. Included in the extensive plans are a 25 by 75-foot swimming pool, 30 by 90-foot clubhouse, a gigantic television tower to catch beams above the rocky cliffs, coffee shop, grocery store and all underground wiring.
The applicant calls the venture a multi-million dollar project: It would go into the R-4, suburban residential zoning, and little opposition, if any, was expected, according to a Planning Commission spokesman.

Business is being conducted today from a new address by the Orange County Heart Association, which has leased larger headquarters at 1704 North Olive St., Santa Ana it was announced by Joe E. Preininger, chairman of the organization's budget committee.
The non-profit heart association, formerly located at 801½ Spurgeon St., in Santa Ana, moved its offices into the remodeled residence at 17th and Olive Streets to provide much-needed room for its volunteer workers, Preininger explained.
The group conducts year-round research, information and referral services to Orange County residents interested in lessening the dread of the nation's number one killer. Milo K. Tedstrom, M.D., is president of the group—affiliated with the California and American Heart Associations—which was organized on a local basis two years ago.
Its information and referral service handles daily requests for heart literature, diet information work simplification suggestions, advice and help from people of all ages whose lives have been changed by the advent of a coronary disorder.
Under current attack by the heart associations' combined forces are strep infections, whose prompt treatment can protect the county's youngsters against rheumatic fever, according to Dr. Tedstrom. As many as 10 out of 100 infections caused by the streptococcus germ are followed by rheumatic fever, which often cripples the heart, the physician explained.
