Traveling eral adults, who are not on sessions at Paris, but who are Shower Party Honors Go to Rosetta Smith Miss Rosetta Smith was the recipient of lovely gifts when Mrs. Richard Ralston entertained at a shower party in her home on South Lemon Street. Miss Smith is to wed Bob Sanders in the Presbyterian Church of Anaheim on July 30. Thirty two guests were invited to the party, among them the guest of honor's mother and mother of the bridegroom-elect, Mrs. William Sanders. In the entertainment games the awards went to Mrs. Carl Starnes, Mrs. Wheeler, Mrs. C. B. Ralston and Mrs. W. Head. As the guest of honor opened her gifts, Miss Lynn Rae Barnes recorded the conversation for the bride's book. White daisies, arranged at either side of a pink net umbrella, was turned into the table centerpiece and tall lighted pink tapers illuminated the setting. Roses were used as decoration in other parts of the home. Wedding bell frosted figures topped the French pastries served at refreshment time. Assisting the hostess were Mrs. C. B. Ralston and Miss Barnes. Figures released today by John N. Reid, director of the Fullerton High School and Junior College summer sessions indicate that more than 336 high school and 356 junior college students are attending classes during the first four days of summer school. This year more pupils than ever before are availing themselves of the opportunity to speed up training or to make up courses which are needed for graduation. In many instances students enroll to supplement work taken during the regular school year. SET FOR SEPTEMBER Discuss Plans for Orchestra Benefit Mrs. Marian Prentiss Given Magazine Recognition Mrs. Marian G. Prentiss, 124 South Pepper, Orange, has been named a member of the national Family Test Group of Town Journal magazine, Miss Gertrude Dlekken, home editor of the magazine, announces. Mrs. Prentiss will be one of 400 members of the group. The purpose of the family test group is to test new food and homemaking products; to advise Town Journal's editors on homemaking service to their readers, and to reflect community opinion. Members of the panel were selected for their excellence as homemakers. Here and There The William Hennings of North Citrus, Orange, have announced the birth of their son on July 17 at the Santa Ana Community hospital. The infant weighed seven pounds. Word has been received from Edith Holsinger, who has been at tending the Altrusa International convention at Ontario, Canada, that she is enjoying a post-convention tour. Miss Holsinger is president of the local club, Bernadine Mrs. Maxwell Sturgis of La Isle presented plans for the "newly-new" fashion show benefit shaded by the Orange County Philharmonic mono Society for the latter part of September, when chairmen assistants of the Society gather at the Balboa Bay club for monthly breakfast meeting Presenting at the session was Mrs. Kari M. Bruning, executive director of the Philharmonic operations. A new category of members for the Society's roster of donors sponsors and patrons was proved. It is to be known as "Cientos," and will represent donations of between $100 and $250 to the Orange County Philharmonic. Mrs. Bruning also announced that the date for the Society's ncertc had been set for Irvine Bowl at Laguna Beach, Saturday Aug. 27, at 8:30 p.m. Many areas of the County were represented at the meeting, and those present from the beach area including Laguna, Lido Isle, Boa, Beacon Bay, Cliff Haven and Corona del Mar. From other parts of the county those attending were: Miss E. G. trude Hellis, Mrs. Holmes Weeh and Mrs. Mildred Alley of San Ana; Mrs. Gordon X. The above unit is a part of hundreds who on the United States group attending the Y-Centennial and coming to share in the hospitality tours of Europe scheduled this program. Traveling with the Anaheim group are sevadults, who are not only delegates and interested in the events at Paris, but who are serving as chaperones for the tour. YMCA SUMMER FUN—This is a common expression of yonner family very enthusiastic over the project. They are (1) Richard Gardner, 10 years old; Linda, seven; Mrs. C (standing) and Gary Gardner, right. They plan to attire Y-Adventure Day Camp in August with Mrs. Gardner to as counselor and craft instructor. Day camp opens on through 13; and Aug. 15 through 27, and will include t Griffith Park Zoo, Travel Town, automobile assembly, Helm's Bakery, Marineland Aquarium, Huntington Beach, Berry Farm, and a cruise of Newport Harbor. Craft, swimovies, outdoor sports and an overnight campout will be ducted by Day Camp Director Dwile Heggem. Application now being taken at the local "Y" office 121 South Citro Mrs. A. Hamon Honored at 78th Birthday Party Sunday was 78th birthday time for Mrs. Anna Hamon of 527 South Illinois St., but Saturday was the day when excitement started for Mrs. Hamon. She was the honor-guest at a birthday luncheon at Welch's in Long Beach. Those sharing this lovely affair with her were: Mrs. Eula Humphrey, her daughter; Mrs. Barbara Epsen, Mrs. Lorraine Ogdon, grand daughters; Mrs. Mary Lee Palmer, a niece, and Mrs. Marilyn Smith, a grand niece. During the luncheon hour they were entertained at an interesting fashion show, one of the program features at the popular restaurant for that day. Along with many remembrances was a beautiful pink carnation corsage sent to Mrs. Hamon by her grandsons, Mel and Mike Epson. Highlight of the party, however, was the presentation of the decorated birthday cake with a lighted sparkler centerpiece. Mrs. Hamon has three children, Mrs. Humphrey of Compton, who arranged the party; Vernon of Orange and Mrs. Lula Page of Fillmore, and five grand children and three great grandchildren. They all recorded their best wishes for her future happiness during the birthday weekend. RETIRED CUSTODIAN Post Office Group Honors Emil Dutzi Saturday evening employees and their families of the Anaheim Post Office gathered at Irvine Park to honor Emil Dutzi. The annual picnic took the shape of an elaborate turkey dinner with all the trimmings under the able supervision of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Fischbach. Following the dinner, Postmaster Louis H, Hoskins extended a welcome and presented a gift from the employees to Emil Dutzi, who has recently retired as custodian from the local Post Office force. Assistant Postmaster, Marshall N. McFlee introduced 10 retired employees and their families, the largest number of retired employees ever to attend an annual affair. Superintendent of Mails, Carlton S. Barthelmes, introduced 30 new employees who had joined the Anaheim Post office "family" in the past year. Novel prizes were awarded by Postmaster Hoskins for the best looking carrier, the one with the biggest feet, the largest waistline, as well as to one of the retired employee present who had been away from the Post Office the longest period of time. There were approximately 220 employees and family members present, the last recorded group in history of such events. Goodwin Knight, accompanied by his wife, was the honoree at a special luncheon of the Southern California Alumni Association of Alpha Delta Phi, held at the Newport Yacht club. Approximately 150 members and their wives attended affair providing the Governor a chance to become better acquainted with the local altar the fraternity of which he was a member during his campus days at Stanford. Bulletin — 5 Women carrie lou sutherland – editor Plan Redistricting State Junior Clubs SON OF FRED KREINS Ph.D. Degree Awarded to Ted Krein Theodore James Krein, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred T. Krein, 722 North Janss St., received his Ph.D. degree from Purdue University, LaFayette, Ind. last week. Ted was graduated from Redlands University magna cum laude in 1951. He received both his Master and Doctor degrees at Purdue. He is a member of Delta Alpha Scholarship Society and the Society of XI-Scientific Research Society of America. He and his wife, Evelyn, will leave LaFayette this week for California where they plan to visit Ted's parents in this city. To coincide with the State Federation of Women's Clubs, Junior membership organization, a committee has been appointed to propose a tentative plan of redistricting the Junior clubs in California. Under the proposed plan, there will be 14 districts with a total of 182 clubs and 9179 members will be required to form a district. As proposed Orange County will maintain the same boundaries and the same membership of approximately 957, but will be called a district instead of a County Federation. Imperial and Riverside counties will combine to form one district, and San Diego and San Bernardino are to be called districts instead of counties. Serving on the redistricting committee are Mrs. Norman Watson, Newport Beach, president of the Southern District Federation, and Mrs. C. J. Troost, Norco, president of the Los Angeles District. Applications are office 121 South Citron St. (Bulletin Photo) Birthday Party Brings Brothers Together Eastern visitors here from Southlick, Mass. were special guests at surprise birthday party at the Anaheim City Park. They were Joseph P. Jacobs and his wife, Alga, who flew west by United Air lines to visit with Jacobs' brother, Peter W., and his wife on SanAna Street. The brothers were separated in childhood and were reunited in 1941. This visit is the second 50 years. A new experience has happenled for Joe Jacobs. He is enjoying pier fishing. To share in the port with the Anaheimers he has presented with a gift of fishg equipment. A barbecue was the menu for the birthday party with others attending, not already mentioned. Included Mrs. Caroline Lovering from Fullerton, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jacobs Jr., also of Fullerton, and the Roy Rowes, formerly of Anaheim who now make their home in Whittier. members present, the largest recorded group in the history of such events. Set Fellowship Luncheon Plans Meeting of the Women's Fellshin will be held in the social hall of the Presbyterian church Thursday at 12:30. Theme of the program will be an air trip to the medical mission served by the church. Program chairman will be Mrs. William Chambers; Devotional Chairman, Mrs. George Harding; Luncheon Chairmen, the February Circle.
