Bethel Crusaders Share Park Picnic
Members and friends of the Crusaders class of the Bethel Baptist church gathered recently in the Anaheim City park for a family barbecue and volleyball game. Forty-eight adults and 27 children lined up to the food table for the delicious roast beef and interesting potluck dishes awaiting them.
Newly elected President, Dale Chase, extended a welcome to everyone and introduced the many guests of the evening. They included Mrs. Exie Grizzell, Bill Fricker, Mr. and Mrs.

It is estimated that one of three persons in the United States will visit some part of our national park system during 1955. The library has available for circulation many books and pamphlets which include details on location, size, history, point of interest in our national state parks.

Members and friends of the Crusaders class of the Bethel Baptist church gathered recently in the Anaheim City park for a family barbecue and volleyball game. Forty-eight adults and 27 children lined up to the food table for the delicious roast beef and interesting potluck dishes awaiting them.
Newly elected President, Dale Chase, extended a welcome to everyone and introduced the many guests of the evening. They included Mrs. Exile Grizzell, Bill Fricker, Mr. and Mrs. Duane Black, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Fallon, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Justus and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Remland. Class teacher, Frank Klutow led the evening prayer. Other church officials attending were Erin Mabs, Sunday School superintendent; Miss Martha Laypoldt, director of Christian Education; and the Rev. Berthold Jackstelt.
Chase presented Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Cornellus with a beautiful provincial table lamp as a farewell gift from the class. The Cornellius family is soon leaving for their new home in Central California.
Following the dinner and short program, everyone adjourned to the volleyball courts where both a woman's and man's game quickly developed.
The July social will be a miniature golf game and hamburger fry.
NEW CITIZENS BORN
Two more new citizens to Anaheim were born at St. Josep hospital. A son was welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kirkpatrick of 320 South Rose St., June 30. Mr. and Mrs. Marcel Dussalt of 8241 North Euclid are the parents of a son born July 1. A son was born to Marine Sgt. and Mrs. Dean Tenny on June 29 at the Corona Naval hospital.

Among the books about national parks are: "Our Country's National Parks", by I. Melbo; "Exploring Our Nation Parks and Monuments", by Butcher; "Our Eastern Plains grounds," by A. F. Merriot; "Your Western National Parks" by D. G. Yeager. The "Conservation Yearbook" lists every kind of information about our park and forest reserves. "The handbook of Auto Camping and Motorist's Guide to Public Car grounds" is full of information for the camping vacation ("This is Dinosaur," by W. Stegner, is just out and won while reading about and helping defend from becoming flooded."Steve Mather of the National Parks," by R. Shankland, is a story of the man who probably did more for our park system than anyone else.

Eighteen hundred school board members in six Southern California Counties have been invited to present policy and administrative problems at a regional conference for their membership on July 7 and 8 at Claremont Graduate school.
A consultation conference, emphasis of the meeting will be on discussion from the floor, according to Dr. Hubert Armstrong, associate professor of education at the Graduate School.
The agenda of the section meetings on July 8 will include discussion on "Functions of School Boards," chairman Edgar Pankey of Santa Ana; "Board Procedure," chairman Chester Gilpin of Anaheim.

Tab Square Dance
The square dances held every Saturday night at the Farm Bureau Hall, at 1916 West Chamman are gaining in popularity with folks from nearly every town of Orange County and as far away as Pacolima in Los Angeles County.
Callers with long experience in the Southern California style of square dancing are assisting to make this dance of more than usual interest. All of the dances are arranged and are under the direction of Don and Evelyn Frisbee of Yorba Linda.

Grocheting Contest Feature for Women at Orange County Fair
To prove that crocheting is not a lost art in Orange County, a speed crocheting contest has been scheduled for the 1955 Orange County Fair, according to Mrs. Earl K. Burdick of West Orange, supervisor of Home Economics exhibits.
Awards will be presented for the speediest demonstrations during a half-hour contest. All contestants will crochet a scaloped edging from a prescribed pattern, with a standard crochet hook and thread, and the greatest number of completed scallops will qualify the winner.
The contest, open to both men and women, is restricted to residents of Orange County. The event will be held at the Fairgrounds at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, August 13 and all contestants must report to the supervisor by 12:30 p.m.
Detailed information may be found in the Fair Premium Book, and all contest applicants must be registered by July 22, closing date of entries for the Fair. Premium Books may be obtained through local chambers of commerce or by writing the Orange County Fair, 20391 Newport Blvd., Costa Mesa, (Telephone KI. 5-1131).
