Here and There
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Remais of 1108 East Center St. are returning to Anaheim today from New York where they have been for the past two months. They stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Remais in Brooklyn while Joseph Remais recovered from a major operation. They return tonight via the Chief with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kessler of this city, their daughter and her husband, meeting them at the depot.
Mr. and Mrs. M. Hastings of 850 South Los Angeles St. are the parents of a daughter born at St. Joseph hospital.

The Floyd L. Hurds of 10405 South Dickel St. are receiving congratulations on the birth of their son at St. Joseph hospital on June 18.
Another Anaheim High School alumni to receive top honors in commencement this June was Clarice Pratt Jobe, the wife of Robert Jobe. Both Mr. and Mrs. Jobe graduated from Pasadena (Nazarene) College with Mrs. Jobe receiving Magna Cum Laude honors. She will teach at Garden Grove (third grade) this next year. Her husband will continue graduate work at USC.
A daughter was welcomed by Mr. and Mrs. Lewis King of 224 East Date St. at St. Joseph hospital last week.
License to wed has been issued to Francis Lee Forsberg, 412 North Olive St. and Barbara Louise Leyton of Santa Ana.

Mrs. Logan Wheatley of Fullerton, a civic and woman's club worker interested in the Korean orphans, will be the guest speaker at the Optimist club Wednesday night for the Anaheim Business and Professional Women.
"Pitchers That Look Like People" will be discussed by Mrs. Wheatley as she displays pitchers from her collection. Money received by Mrs. Wheatley from her talks she send directly to Marine Memorial Orphanage at Pohang-Dong for the purchase of rice land for needy families.

Mr. and Mrs. P.W. Schmitz Celebrate Silent Anniversary at Open House Saturday
Hosts of local and out-of-town friends extending congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmitz when Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Schmitz Mr. and Mrs. James Schmitz and Shirley Schmitz honored their guests at open house Saturday evening in celebration of their wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Schmitz were married in Waterloo, Iowa, June 19, 1929 at St. Marys Catholic church and have made their home at 14371 Anaheim-Olive Rd. for the past 11 years. Mrs. Schmitz, nee Mildred Richardson, is the daughter of Earl Richardson, a rancher in the Anaheim area for the past 21 years.
Both patio and rooms of the home were used for the informal open house affair. Receiving the guests with their parents, were Gerald and James Schmitz, twin sons of the honored couple and their daughter, Shirley Schmitz.
Floral decorations for the home were pink roses, carnations, and stock. Pink and silver appointments accented the tea table, centered by the beautifully decorated three tiered anniversary cake. Mrs. Gerald Schmitz and Mrs. James Schmitg, daughters-in-law of the honored couple, presided. Friends and relatives were invited to sign the guest book by Shirley Schmitz and Miss Hazel Spehrs life-long friend of Mrs. Schmitz attended the gift table.
Mrs. Schmitz's navy blue eagle was accented by her beak white orchid corsage with touches.
Sharing this anniversary with the feteed couple were Spears, Mr. and Mrs. N.J.McAunt and uncle of Mrs.Schmitg and Earl Richardson, her father who were also present at the ding 25 years ago.
Out-of-town guests were Mr. Herbert Goepel, Mr. and Vern Wilson and Miss Mae Sall of Norwalk; Mr. and Mrs.Sheffield of Glendale, Mr. Mrs.John Burke, Mr. and M.O.Lietzman, all of Whittier; Elizabeth Richardson and Miss Richardson of Corona Del Mrs.Magda Benson, Mr. and Hugh Bridgiord of Fullerton, Marge Wanggrud and Miss Spears of Santa Ana.
Sons of the honored couple and Mrs. Gerald Schmitz and Matthew Earl, and Mr. and James Schmitz and sons Do and Dennis, are residents of Rafael and Laguna Beach relatively.

Kersten located location. Two lots, indicated on city map by Mrs. C. A. Neighbors, junior past president of committee, have been approved. They are located at the northeast corner of South Lemon and the property owned by Mrs. J. W. Truxaw. The lots are in R-1 zone, a single family dwelling the erection of a League home at the present time. R-3 zoning would be necessary for such a hat with progress in Anaheim no one can safely predict the future of many locations either to they do not intend to build now. Bride-elect of Robert Simon is Shower Honoree
The first in the series of pre-uptial events planned for Miss Marta Scoggin was held at Clock Country club recently. Mrs. John Gillette of La Habra, hostessed this lovely affair which was a luncheon followed by a shower of linen gifts.
The long table, which over-looked the pool, was decorated with a large crystal bowl of yellow and white gladiolas. Yellow dahlias were scattered down the length of the table.
Miss Scoggin of Huntington Park is the bride-elect of Robert Simon of North Zeyn street. They have announced their marriage date as August 15. Robert Simon is the only son of Emory S. Simon and the late Mrs. (Opal) Simon.
Mrs. Charles Bush and Mrs. Arthur Korn of Anaheim were among the guests attending the affair Saturday. Mrs. Korn is an aunt of the bridegroom-elect.
Start Occidental Language Workshops
Four language workshops (in Spanish) are offered during the six weeks summer session at Occidental College started June 21.
Two to four units of credit will be granted. The workshops will be conducted by Leland S. Babcock and Dr. Austin E. Fife.
Announcements
Ladies Aid of the First Presbyterian church meets Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the blue room of the church. A pot luck luncheon is planned with each person attending to bring their own table service with their food and also their Bible.

Zion Lutheran Graduates Students
Alfred J. Freitag from the Lutheran school in Los Angeles addressed the graduates at the Zion Lutheran school commencement with Lois Wenholz as valedictorian and Sandra Ballman, salutatorian.
The program opened with a processional and the song "God Bless Our Lutheran School" with the call to prayer given by John Heiden. The Rev. E. H. Pfug, pastor of the Zion church, gave the invocation with August Fluegge leading the patriotic ceremonies.
Other program features included the introduction of the class by Rollie Shipley; class will, read by Betty Lou DeJager; class prophecy, Jane Reinemann; songs, school choristers and by the audience.
Mrs. Martin Gelssler, Parent-Teacher president, presented the class pins to graduates with Monte Hazzard accepting the emblems Walter Knigge, principal, presented the graduates to E. L. Wampler, chairman of the board of education for the school who gave them their diplomas.
"The Lord's Prayer" was sung by the classes with Reverend Pfug giving the benediction.

Howard Hall Named FJC Journalism And English Teacher
Howard C. Hall of Anabeim will replace Paul McCallib as journalism instructor, adviser to student publications, and English teacher at Fullerton Junior College next year.
Now a teaching assistant in news communication at UCLA, Hall has a B.A. from Pomona College and a Master of Science degree in journalism from UCLA He has taught journalism and English at Anaheim Union High School.
