But they are "afraid" it will go down. In recent weeks, farmers have been paying off loans on about 100,000 bales a week. The withdrawals from price support have reduced government stocks from an all-time peak of 8,419,000 bales on Feb. 12 to about 7,400,000 bales on May 21. The withdrawals from the loan program followed improvement in spot cotton prices which resulted from heavy early season movement cotton under loan. By February about 40 per cent of the 1952 cotton crop was piled under support on top of about 1,700,000 bales of 1952-crop cotton. After it became apparent that cotton left in commercial channels would not be adequate to take care of mill and export demand, prices went up above the support rate Lunch ------ 65c up OUICK SERVICE OLDEST and LARGEST Chinese Cafe In Orange County Famous For Steak Dinners KNXT . . . This is the opinion of John Ives, producer of the Wednesday "21st about protecting a program by using fictional names," he said, "but this program taught me a new degree of caution. "The show is not a documentary, but the episodes are based on real police cases. We've placed our 21st Precinct within the Manhattan East Borough Command, which actually exists, in order to achieve realism, but we can exactly duplicate actuality, and that goes double for the use of names." List Of Names Checked Ives said that a list of names for possible use is set up and then checked against the Manhattan and Chicago telephone directories. "If a name appears at least 25 times in the Chicago book or had half a column in the Manhattan directory, we keep it. Safety in it" Being a rather common name. "We also double-check the New York Civil Service lists to make sure that the names we keep don't belong to police personnel actually in the Manhattan East Borough Command." Telephone and street numbers are a problem for this show. "We have a list of actual telephone exchanges with dialing combination which are impossible or not in use." Ives explained. "We have to check the telephone company periodically to make sure they haven't put into use some combination we're using. "Thinking up fictional street number is rather easy. A quick check with the post office when there is any doubt saves us from making an error."
