The meeting of the Garnet Howard Chapter of the N.F.M.S. will be held in the home of Mrs. Mildred Killen, 5592 Bishop St., tonight (June 7), at 7:30. All members and friends are urged to attend the meeting.
Mrs. Dorothy Denney will serve as co-hostess during the social hour following the business meeting.
Since several of the members of the Women's Community Club serve on the Election Boards, the meeting of the club has been postponed until next week. The place of meeting has not been selected at present.
All presidents of representatives of Cypress organizations, who wish to participate in the White Gold Day activities, are asked to meet with the board of the directors of the Chamber of Commerce Wednesday evening at 7:45 at the fire hall in order that plans may be discussed for the approaching White Gold Day.
A special meeting was held last Wednesday evening to draw up an outline for the organizational meeting. It was under the direction of President Don Caul and General Chairman, Jake Van Dyke.
A misunderstanding as to who pays for the lights in the new Cypress Recreation park has been circulated recently, and the Park Board has asked that an explanation of the situation be made.
Some people think that the lights cost $12.50 an hour to burn, and that the Cypress taxpayers are paying for the softball leagues' activity on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
Actually, the cost of the lights to operate is only $2.50 an hour, and any group other than a Cypress organization, must pay for using last week by the Orange County Planning Commission. Owner of the establishment, which is located in the garage at the rear of the property, is Ferron Minor.
Both kindergarter groups of the Cypress school will make a trip to Dutton's Jungle at the corner of Orangethorpe and Raymond in Anaheim Friday, and in the meantime, awards assembly will be held at the school to honor the school's athletes.
All of the boys and girls on the teams will be presented their letters along with the symbols representing the sport in which they participated.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Van Dyke recently purchased the home of Marshal H. A. Kelley at 8774 Watson St. in Cypress.
Marshal and Mrs. Kelley are moving to 400 North Pine St. in Anaheim.
Van Dyke will move into his new home with his wife when they return from San Luis Obispo, after the school term is completed and graduation is over.
Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Votanek, aunt and uncle of Mrs. W. W. Montgomery, 6362 Lincoln Ave., stopped in for a visit last week while passing through this area. They are on a six week tour of the West Coast, having begun the trip from their home in Berwyn, Ill.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Corby, of Karen St., are vacationing among relatives and old friends in Kansas.
