Thousands View Dog Show at La Palma (Continued from Page 1) kow's dogs. Fairhaven Welcome Willie and Ch. Welcome Traveier. Terrier variety group winner was a Manchester, Ch. Canyon Crest's Magic Soot from the Canyon Crest Kennels at Beverley Hills. Best Brace winners in the hounds group were Stan and Gerda Lewis' of Sun Valley, German shepherd dogs, Stangerda's Quellson and Stangerda's Valiant Chief. Award was the Kennel club's trophy. Winner in the hound varieties was a gorgeous Afghan, Ch. Rudok El Cino, owned by F. C. and M. C. Beyer of 4801 Haskell St., Encino. Camby's Leather Stockings, a black and tan cocker, Mr. and Mrs. Bryon Covey of 1010 South Second Ave., Arcadia, owners, took top honors in the sporting breeds. Non-sporting breeds winner was a Boston terrier, Ch. Chappie's Little Man, owned by Mrs. Charles Cline of Los Angeles. Working breeds winner was Ch. Verla's Prince Comet owned by Shirley Ann Hill of 1036 South First Ave., Arcadia. Last year the Santa Ana Valley Kennel club was accepted into the American Kennel club with the fifth all-breed show operating under rules and regulations of the AKC. The SAVEC, in bringing to the public their annual shows, aims not only at public presentation of the best in the canine world but to do something constructive for the welfare of dogs and small animals through a self-perpetuating senior scholarship to University of California School of Veterinary Medicine at Davis campus. BOWLERS Rails Strengthen Stock Market NEW YORK (UP)—Strength in railroad shares lifted the stock market higher today. Trading fell off from the active pace of last Friday the previous session. The rail strength carried the rail average to a new high since last Aug. 13. Industrials were at their best since Oct. 22 1929. Santa Fe Atlantic Coast Line and Rock Island led the rails high. General Foods Johns-Manville and Goodyear were strong spots in the industrial department. Motors dipped. Steels held about steady. Aircrafts were irregular with Bell at a new high andmBendi off more than a point. Douglas gained more than 2 points. Sharon Steel and American Viscose lost on lower earnings.
