COUNTY'S NEWEST—The Freeway Bowl, Orange County's newest bowling center, will hold its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 24, starting at 7:30 p.m. Thrilling match games, complimentary bowling and free gifts for all, will be the order of business tomorrow night. The 12-lane center features the fastest equipment for the enjoyment of both bowlers and spectators and there is ample parking space for 150 cafes. A cafe is in the building for the convenience of patrons plus television while you wait. The Freeway Bowl is convenient for Anaheimers and residence of Northern Orange County Located at 10867 South Manchester, it is easily identifiable by the giant green neon sign. New Bowling Center to Open Tomorrow Night Orange County's newest bowling center, the Freeway Bowl, will hold its grand opening Saturday, Oct. 24, starting at 7:30 p.m. with bowling exhibitions and free gifts for all who attend. Highlight of the grand opening ceremonies Saturday night will be a match game between Arnett and Valentine against all-star bowlers from Los Angeles and match games between teams representing others. There is ample parking space—150 cars—and just a short walking distance from your car to the building. Look for the giant green neon sign on the west side of the freeway. Regular hours at the Freeway Bowl will be from noon until all bowlers are through every day of the week including Sundays. Owned and operated by Albert and Bernie Gottlieb, nothing has been spared at the Freeway Bowl for the comfort and enjoyment of bowlers and spectators. There are numerous comfortable seats for spectators and for better spectator enjoyment of the games, there are telescopic machines which flash the score sheets upon screens twice the normal size. For the bowlers, there are deep cushion lounge seats, easily assessable ball return racks and a completely automatic electric-ere "foul" system. Pins are rapidly racked and set by the use of semi-automatic pin setting machines. A cafe serves appetizing snacks and there is television for your enjoyment. The Gottliebs have owned and operated the Fullerton Bowl for four years and between them they have 24 years experience in the bowling business. Bernie will manage the new Freeway Bowl while his father, Al, will remain at the Fullerton Bowl. There will be alleys available every night for open bowling regardless of whether leagues are bowling or not. There are more than 100 balls available of various weights and sizes for men and women and also shoes. If you wish to purchase your own equipment, you'll find a complete stock of brand-name bowling balls, shoes, bags and other accessories. Leagues and teams are invited and some teams have already started forming. Club and organization bowling parties are always welcomed and reservations may be made by calling Bernie at Anasheim 6106. The union demanded a 26 cent hourly increase, which it said was necessary to bring wages up to those received by its members in the auto industry who are doing aircraft work. The current pay scale for union employees ranges from $1.42 to $2.32 an hour. Coast College Teacher To Test Dismissal COSTA MESA (UP)—A dismissed Orange Coast college physics teacher today sought to test the constitutionality of insubordination charges lodged against him by the school's Board of Directors. H. Clinton St. John, fired for allegedly refusing to tell the board if he was a Communist, denied the charges. He said he has asked the Santa Ana superior court to hold a hearing into his dismissal. Lamb, 31, of Whittier. Police said Lamb disappeared Wednesday from his 28-foot fishing boat enroute to Newport harbor from Catalina Island. Robert A. Pfleger, 49, and Oscar Olson, 38, were freed on $2,500 bail each last night following their arraignment before United States Commissioner Howard V. Calverley. The two men told Newport harbor police and FBI agents that Lamb apparently fell overboard when they were about one hour out of Avalon. They said they retracted their course, criss-crossing it for hours, after discovering his absence, but were unable to find him. The pair told officers that Lamb married and the father of three children, had told them he was going forward to lie down. Police said, however, they believed the foredeck where Lamb allegedly went, to sleep was too small for a man to lie down comfortably. Weekend evening up operations brought irregularity in the general list. A long list showed declines of fractions to a point. Studebaker was well up in the activities and t gained a point on declaration of the usual dividend. Other automobile shares held steady to firm. Westinghouse Electric with its atomic power project for the Atomic Energy Commission was very active with the price up a trifle. General Electric held steady. Oil issues performed better than other groups. Gain ranging to a point or better were recorded in Amerada, Cities Service, Ohio Oil, Gulf Oil, Pacific Western Oil, Pure Oil, Houston Oil, Deep Rock Oil, and Texas Pacific Coal & Oil. Twentieth-Century Fox Film stood out with a gain of nearly a point in the amusements. Steels moved higher under the leadership to Lukens Steel. Motors held steady. Television shares sagget with losses ranging to a point. Light Industrial Tract Approved in Stanton SANTA ANA — A light industrial tract along the Pacific Etric property in Stanton seems assured today, after the Oran County Painting Commission recommended changing the area from general business district. The action of the planners allowed a public hearing in which no opposition was expressed. She was a member of the Congregational church of Buena Park and formerly made her home in Anaheim. Funeral service are to be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars chapel, with the Rev. Albert Miller to officiate. Burial will be in Loma Vista Memorial park.
