Cinerama Told To Lions Club "This Is Cinerama" was the subject of Oscar Cantler, director of public relations of Cinerama Corporation, guest speaker at the Lions Club yesterday. Cantler explained the theory behind the Cinerama process and how it was developed by Fred Waller 14 years ago. The Army asked Waller to develop a new type sight to be used to train gunners, bombarders and other military personnel which would give them a realistic effect. Waller perfected his optical sight which was a closely guarded secret during the war. From this invention came the idea of Cinerama. He explained some of the mechanics of how Cinerama works and some of the emotions the audience experiences as it views the picture on the gigantia, wide, curved screen, which wraps around and enfolds the spectators so that they lose the idea they are sitting in a theater and viewing the picture from a distance, but that they are actually in the picture. This is amply demonstrated in the roller coaster sequence, he said. Special guest at the meeting was District Governor Charles Baker from Riverside who spoke to the club briefly on Lionism. Program chairman for the day was Rex Coons and president Dick Glover presided over the meeting. Parking for visitors A LOOK INTO THE FUTURE Meet John and Mary Smith—and their child. See the pride and hope, the faith and love that she like soft lights from the little girl’s face? See the look the future in her eyes? Nothing in all the world could cause that reflection of happiness and contentment but a well-behaved chick. Perhaps she has just spoken a piece. Perhaps she was singing a song. Perhaps she is playing with her smoother and sister. But whatever she is doing, you will agree it is the result of wise and loving guidance. And you can be certain there is another member of the family not shown in the picture—God, the guide and Father of all of them. Where parents and the Church work together for you will find true happiness. THIS MESSAGE SPONSORED BY THE FO HADLEY’S CAFE & BAKERY Cafe corner Center and Los Angeles Sis. Bakery 316 W. ALL FOR THE CHURCH The Church is the greatest factor on earth for the building of character and good citizenship It is a storehouse of spiritual values. Without a strong Church, neither democracy nor civilization can survive. There are four sound reasons why every person should attend services regularly and support the Church. They are: (1) For his own sake. (2) For his children's sake. (3) For the sake of his community and nation. (4) For the sake of the Church itself, which needs his moral and material support. Plan to go to church regularly and read your Bible daily.
