All departments joined in the mild sell off. A few high priced issues showed the widest losses. They were down around a point or more. Market news continued on the dull side. Investors generally are awaiting further developments in the uncertain foreign situation. Chesapeake Ohio was an outstanding feature. The stock ran up more than a point on news of good earnings. Aircraft manufacturing issues also stood out. A few pivotal here managed to move up more than a point. Boeing Aircraft and Douglas Aircraft were the leaders. In the main industrial group, steel shares held within a narrow range. Automotives were about the same. ANDERSON (UP)—A pooled feud appeared to be brewed today between William G. Bonelli veteran chairman of the Board Equalization, and Paul R. Leake the newest member of the board and an outspoken critic of state's liquor control agency. The first open indication of differences between the two rents at the last meeting of board in Sacramento. Bonelli, a veteran of 15 years service on the board, bluntly leaked to "be more careful with you quote activities in my district and later told reporters that Leake was spreading "damn humbug." No Beer Licenses The incident arose because nelli claimed he had been told Leake had said he (Bonelli) made certain decisions on board from a "desire to protect Gardena poker parlors and the (liquor) licenses." Bonelli hammered home point that none of the Gardena poker parlors have so much beer license. "I've always been against gambling establishments liquor licenses," Bonelli said. Then added, to Leake: "I want you to be more care when you quote activities in district." Cops and Robbers "Maybe I ought to whistle theme song from 'Dragnet Leake replied.' I never said anything about Gardena poker lors. I don't even know what Gardena is." Leake's reference to Dragoa popular radio-TV cops and rangers drama, apparently was tie in his public contention to Jack Webb, star of the show "could make more arrests tha" LOS ANGELES (UP)—Dalry: Eggs: Wholesale prices consumer grade A large 63-64, medium 52-55; extras 60 pct A large 60. Leake made reference to the Board of Equitation which reporters promptly linked to Bonelli. Here is what Leake told the pervisors: "It costs a candidate in South California from $75,000 to $100,000 to finance a campaign. Who going to put it up?" "And the guy that scratches candidate's back expects something in return. And I'm afraid gets it." Bonelli is the only member of the four-man board from south California counties. Mr name is Fortnight. (14 times as good as any one-day name). 9:27 A.M. As we were working in the back room we saw it come in. It glanced quickly around the store then made straight for the wall where we kept the small tools. We had seen this sort of thing before. We were trained to know all about it. My partner and I looked at each other and we both knew what the other was thinking. A customer! 9:27¹⁴. I approached the sus—I mean, the customer. (Notice how prompt our service is) He was dressed much the same as any man on the street, and other than the two heads there were no distinguishing features about him. 9:33. I spoke to the customer. (Notice the long walk from the back room) "May I help you, Mam?" We call them all Mam, no matter who they are. Habit! "I was looking for a small wood plane," he said. "I know, Mam, but how small and for what kind of wood? It's just for the record, Mam, just routine. We just want to get the facts, Mam." 9:35 The investigation continued. It was determined that the customer was doing repair work at his home. He had become interested in "Do it yourself" work some years ago and, like all such addicts, could not kick the habit. It's like that in these cases. Some get the habit, some don't. He had it! 9:36 The outcome of all these investigations is the same. In our work we are required to make them successful. From the moment the customer picked up the plane it was just a matter of time until the inevitable happened. He bought it! The results of today's case: "Do it yourself" work around the house is punishable by not less than a lifetime, nor more than an eternity, of enjoyment, pleasure and satisfaction. Try it sometime. President Gets Ready For Birthday Party WASHINGTON (UP) President Elsenhower, gradually recovering from a weekend stomach upset, got ready today for an elephant-sized birthday party being given for him tonight by the Hospital Republicans of Pennsylvania. Tomorrow will be Mr. Elsenhower's 63rd birthday. He planned to motor with his wife this afternoon to Hershey, Pa., for an evening with an estimated 30,000 birthday wellwishers, 700 cakes, box suppers, $100-aplate dinners, a chorus of 1800 voices and a golf driving exhibition by Ben Hogan. The purpose of the party was two-fold: to put dollars in the GOP 1954 congressional campaign war chest, and to hall the birthday of the first Republican president in 20 years.
