Kidnap Murder of Bobby Greenlease
Recalls Details of Lindberg Case
The kidnap murder of Robert C. Greenlease, Jr. ranks as one of the outstanding kidnap cases of this generation and recalls in many of its details the kidnap murder of Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr. which occurred a generation ago.
The 20-months-old Lindbergh baby was the only child of the world-famous filer and his wealthy and socially prominent wife when he was kidnapped March 1, 1932.

Six-year-old Bobby Greenlease was the younger of two children of millionaire midwestern automobile dealer and his socially active wife when he was kidnaped Sept. 28.
Taken From Cradle
The Lindbergh baby was snatched in the night from his cradle in his parents' isolated estate at Hopewell, N.J. Bobby Greenlease was taken from the French Institute of Notre Dame De Sion in Kansas City during school hours by an abductress posing as his aunt.
The Lindberghs paid $50,000 ransom which was thrown over the fence of a cemetery in the Bronx section of New York on April 2, 1932, by a volunteer intermediary, John F. Condon (Jafsole). Nearly one third of it was recovered.
The Greenleases paid $600,000, the largest ransom in the annals of American crime. It was tossed in a satchel at a bridge between Kansas City and St. Louis last Monday by Robert Ledterman and N. S. O'Neill, Greenlease's business partner.
FBI Effort
Federal authorities did not take charge of the Lindbergh case until Feb. 10, 1933, almost a year after the abduction. The FBI actively entered the Greenlease case soon after the kidnaping in accordance with provisions of the Lindbergh Kidnap Law which was enacted as a result of the Lindbergh case.
The body of the Lindbergh baby was found in a brush-covered grave not far from the family estate T3 days after the kidnaping. The baby was killed by a blow on the head.
The Greenlease boy's lime-covered and partly decomposed body was found yesterday, nine days after his abduction, in a shallow, flower-plated grave behind the home of his abductress in St. Joseph, Mo. He had been shot three times.
