Heavy Quake Recorded New Fordham in N.Y.
NEW YORK (UP)—A fairly long earthquake centered about 100 miles from New York was recorded on Fordham University camographs last night.
The Rev. Joseph Lynch said rocks were recorded at 11:43:23 and 11:52:51 p.m. EST. He estimated intensity at six on a scale of 10.
Another Lynch said the quake is centered either northwest of New York, which would place it in the area of the Aleutians, or northwest, in Central Europe.

NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN that sealed proposals will be received by the City Council of the City of Anaheim at the office of the City Clerk up to the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. on the 18th day of October, and will be received at the hour of 8:00 o'clock P.M. at a public meeting of the City Day. If any of the above mentioned holidays other than Labor Day or Sunday, the following Monday shall be considered a legal holiday.
It shall be mandatory upon the contractor to whom the contract is awarded and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the specified rates of wages to all laborers, workers and雇员 by them in the execution of the contract.
Each bid shall be made out on a form to be obtained at the office of the City Clerk or the City Engineer of the City of Anaheim and shall be accompanied by a certified or cashier's check for bond for each bid per cent of the amount of the bid, made payable to the City of Anaheim, and shall be sealed and delivered to the City Clerk at the City Hall of the City of Anaheim before 2:00 o'clock P.M. on the 13th day of October, 1953, and will hold a public meeting and hearing and will open all sealed proposals. Sealed proposals shall be submitted in sealed envelopes and marked in upper left hand corner "Seal proposals for construction of LIBERTY LAKE." JOBNO. $602, PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT together with the name and address of the bidder. The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract, if awarded to him, and will be诚然 forbidden if it is entered into a contract after being requested to do so by the City of Anaheim. Such contract shall be entered into within fifteen (15) days after receipt by a contractor of notice of the awarding of the contract unless such time is extended by the City of Anaheim.
Each bid must specify the name and location of the mill, shop or office of each subcontractor who will perform work or labor or render services to the contractor in or about the construction of the work or improvement and the portion of the work which will be done by such subcontractor. If any bid is submitted as a substitute for another bid agree to perform the work himself.

All foremen, unless separately classified, shall be paid as provided in the June, 1952 revision of the A.G.C.A.F.L. Southern California Master Labor Agreement.
Applications must be employed in conformity with Section 1777.6 of the California Labor Code.
The rates of per diem wages for each of the various classifications of work shall be the horsinbefore set forth prevailing rates of hourly wages most suitable for eight hours shall constitute a day's work being understood that in the event that workmen are employed less than eight hours per day the per diem wage shall be that fraction of the per diem wage herein established that the number of hours of work shall be for eight hours.
The overtime rule establishing the rates of overtime and holiday work shall be in accordance with the following: Where a single shift is worked, eight hours of continuous employment, except for lunch per hour; where both shifts work beginning on Monday and continuing through Friday each week, where work is required in excess of eight hours in any one day or during the interval of time from 5:00 o'clock P.M. Friday and 12:00 o'clock midnight Saturday.
Work shall be for at the minimum rate of one and one-half times the basic rate of wages, and on Sundays and holidays such work shall be paid for at the minimum rate of double the basic rate of wages, except as otherwise provided in the Trademark Agreement of the A.G.C.A.F.L. Southern California Master Labor Agreement.
Holidays is hereby referred to shall be deemed to be New Year's Day, Decoration Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas
