Center Street Free Parking In Rear of Store Anahelm Buena Park Okays First Restricted Building Zone Everybody thinks "There ought to be a law agin'" is the reason City Manager Arthur Brewer of Buena Park gave for the frequency of Buena Park city council meetings — which are every Tuesday night. It is especially true of the city-incorporated last Jan. 27. The city has accomplished its subdivision and building-license ordinances, he said. Now, they are working toward their fire prevention code and zoning ordinance. Brewer defended smaller cities against the modern theory of merging. "It does not necessarily follow that several cities sharing cost of maintenance save money," he claimed. At the meeting in the council chamber last night, at which Mayor Grady Travis presided, members approved a tentative map and accepted a set of 16 recommendations for the 20 lot subdivision tract on the old John Page ranch. This is on the north side of Orangethorpe and one block east of Grand. It will be Buena Park's first zone having building restrictions, according to the builder B. E. Doyle. There now are five completed homes. Continued interest in the safety of the school children was evidenced at the meeting when a lengthy discussion on highway crossing hazards resulted in a definite decision to place stop signs on Artesia at Stanton streets, in both easterly and westerly directions. It was believed this would discourage speedsters attaking the route past Lindberg School in order to avoid traffic signals, councilmen said.
