Agreement Signed for Oil Drilling in Peru
LOS ANGELES (UP)—Douglas Oil Co. of California has acquired operating rights on more than 1,000 acres of "proven land" in Northern Peru and will launch an extensive drilling program in November, President W. G. Krieger announced today.

Delco Names The Department House
R. A. Daily, plant manager at Delco Battery Operations which is being built at Anaheim nounces the appointments of Roberts as tool and main supervisor and Raymond O'Reilly as supervisor of the purchase production control activities plant.
Roberts has been with the Battery Operations in Mumbai, since September, 1935. Tended General Motors Institution, Flint, Mich., on a cooperating basis immediately follow employment there, and, in order working on various assignments, he worked as neyman tool master. In 1942 promoted to foreman, and, he was promoted to general in charge of several product partsments. He is married to one child. He will assume jobs in Anaheim effective 1953.
Marx joined the Delco-R organization in the purchaser partment at Anderson, Ind., and transferred to the Dewey Operations in Muncie. Prior to joining the Delco organization, he managed Smith - Alsop Paint Company Anderson, Ind. He will assist duties at Anaheim effective 1, 1953.
Daily also announced that cations for employment at Anaheim plant will be about Jan. 1, 1954.

Delco Names Two Department Heads
R. A. Daily, plant manager of the Delco Battery Operations plant, which is being built at Anaheim, announces the appointments of H. E. Roberts as tool and maintenance supervisor and Raymond C. Marx as supervisor of the purchasing and production control activities for the plant.
Roberts has been with the Delco Battery Operations in Muncie, Indiana, since September, 1935. He attended General Motors Institute at Lincoln, Mich., on a cooperative training basis immediately following his employment there, and, in addition to working on various production assignments, he worked as a journeyman tool master. In 1942, he was promoted to foreman, and, in 1945, he was promoted to general foreman on charge of several productive departments. He is married and has one child. He will assume his duties in Anaheim effective Oct. 1, 1953.
Marx joined the Delco-Remy organization in the purchasing department at Anderson, Ind., in 1943, and transferred to the Delco Battery Operations in Muncie in 1947. Prior to joining the Delco-Remy organization, he managed the Smith - Alsop Paint Company at Anderson, Ind. He will assume his duties at Anaheim effective October 1, 1953.
Daily also announced that applications for employment at the new Anaheim plant will be accepted about Jan. 1, 1954.

Texas Convict Admits Killing Californian
RICHMOND, Tex. (UP)—A 22-year-old Texas convict has confessed murdering a man in California more than a year ago and prison authorities today awaited word from California on what action to take.
Billy Reed Burchfield, who is completing a six-year sentence after violating a conditional parole, made the confession because he "wanted to get it off my chest."
Burchfield said he shot and killed a David Hollaman near Fort Ross, Calif., then weighted his body with a rock and lowered it into the Pacific.
Warden H. H. Husbands of Central Prison Farm No. 1, where Burchfield is held, said the young convict approached him last week saying he had a confession to make.

School Set Up for County Policemen
BANTA ANA—An administrative school for Orange County's police officers will be started Sept. 28 to continue through Oct. 2 under joint sponsorship of the Orange County Peace Officers' Association and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Joseph F. Santolana Jr., special agent in charge of the San Diego district office of FBI, disclosed that arrangements have been completed for FBI agents to be instructors.
At least 35 officers from all law enforcement departments in the county will attend the classes to be from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., daily at the Sixth Army-Reserve Headquarters, 1012 N. Main St., Santa Ana.
The school is designed especially for the departmental staff commands, rank of sergeant and above. It will deal with topics of organization, leadership, discipline, public relations, duties of a command officer, and related subjects.
The FBI has cooperated in operating 2500 training schools in California from its three district offices, training several thousand police officers in FBI methods, San Francisco.

FULLERTON—Fencing of the west end of Brea Creek, which bisects Fullerton, to provide "anchors" designed to prevent erosion of earthen levees, was being planned today.
It will be a jointly-financed project of City of Fullerton and the County of Orange, and will cost $25,000 for 5000 feet of chain-link fencing about seven feet high.
City Administration Herman Hiltscher of Fullerton said that the city will supply $10,000 and the county the remainder for the work to be done from Basque Ave. westward.
