Follies Set for Final Week at Fair
During the last eight nights, Sept. 27 through Oct. 4, Los Angeles County Fair features its major night attraction, "Fair Follies of 83." This Broadway extravaganza has become a tradition. It brings to the coast, for the first time, a "swiftly paced and spectacular re-venue of top talent singers, dancers, comedians and musicians in one package of unalloyed enjoyment divided into four sparkling episodes," officials stated.
In each interlude, there is an amazing diversity of stellar acts gathered from around the world and spotlighted by a return of the world-famed Zacchinis in the most daring and thrilling act of all time. Two lovely girls, as human projectiles, are shot simultaneously at 175 feet into the air from a monster cannon. Back again, also, and by popular request, are Ming and Ling with their hilarious interpretations and hilbily impersonations. And there are a score of other hits," officials said.
Here is a darling departure from standard outdoor entertainment. Bizarre illuminating effects, gorgeous scenery and settings, startling costumes and showmanship combine in producing a veritable faryland of dramatic splendor, sparkling with pretty girls, youthful exuberance, vivacious dance routines and captivating melodies.
Here, too, is an opportunity for the entire family to enjoy refreshing diversion from the routine of everyday entertainment. The performance starts at 8 p.m. each evening. Tickets may be had at the grandstand box office. Reservations can be made by phoning Lycoming 93001 or addressing Los Angeles County Fair headquarters at Pomona.

Geraniums Hardy Attractive Plants
Although geraniums trace their ancestry from ancient history, only recently have gardeners realized that they are important assets in modern landscaping, where effectively a garden that require only a minimum of attention are desired.
Geraniums will endure both neglect and intense burning sunlight such as that common to the San Joaquin and Sacramento Valleys. Paradoxically, they flourish just as well, and with as little attention, in the mild misty climate of the coastal regions. The brilliant vermillions, deep reds, oranges, pinks and lavenders, which geraniums provide, are irresistible to those who like splashes of color in their summer gardens. And they bloom gloriously from May until October!
Require Little Attention
Though they require little attention, California nurserymen point out that a certain amount of care can improve the stock enormously. Now that Fall is at hand, cutting back should be done. In frost-free areas, geraniums can be left in the ground, but should be pruned severely. This keeps them shapely and prevents awkward woody stems from developing and will stimulate new flowering wood for Spring blooming.
If you anticipate taking polled geraniums inside for Christmas blooming, avoid those which have spent the summer in the direct sun. Select only those that have been on porches, lanata or other shaded areas, and transfer them to the shelter of a garage or basement for a few weeks, giving them a transition period of filtered light. This has been found an excellent aid to securing beautiful holiday season blooms. But a still surer method is to secure new geranium plants from your nurseryman. He will have plants that have been specially prepared to adapt to indoor conditions.
Winter Shelter
In frost-area, those polled geraniums which will not be taken inside, should be transferred to the shelter of a basement, greenhouse or garage. Garden planted geran-
