Formal Dinner Will Honor California Poet Gordon W. Norris of Los Angeles has recently been elected Poet Laureate of California, succeeding the late John Steven McGroarty in this position. On October 15th, National Poetry Day, at 7 p.m., a banquet will be held in his honor in the Embassy Room of the Ambassador Room of the Ambassador Hotel, Los Angeles. A portrait of Gordon Norris will be unveiled and presented to the state. The state governor and other important state, county and city officials will be guests also V. P. Nixon and wife. Tickets will be gold souvenirs. The affair will be formal for the ladies. Jack Gormley, an editor of the American Bard, is chairman of all poetry organizations throughout the state, elected to that position by the State Poet Laureate committee headed by Eugene Biscaluz, Howard Hill and Edythe Hope Gence.
