Stock Market In Recovery
NEW YORK (UP) — Stocks registered their best recovery since Aug. 12 on reduced volume today.
While sales fell below yesterday's rate of more than two million shares, it was the most active session on he upside since June 10.
The upurn came after six sessions of decline had hacked six billion dollars from the valuation of all listed securities.
It was regarded as a technical recovery, one that follows an over-sold condition in the market.
Railroads, hardest hit in the recent decline, made the best per centage advance. A long list of them rose a point or more.
Next to the rails, the oils made the best recoveries. Chemicals picked up and so did aircrafts.
Philco and Zenith were up a point each in the televisions.
Steels and non-ferrous metals firmed. Motors were narrowly irregular. Ullies registered a minor loss in their average.
